I understand the 16" I joists were used in lieu of the 9 ½" for the mudroom. This is an adequate
substitution.
Secondly, the wall at the wood stair has a 16" rim board with 2x stud blocking spanning across the floor
joint in the middle of a 2-story wall. I recommend strapping from studs above across the blocking at the
floor to the studs below, lapping a minimum of 16" on the studs, and spaced at 4' on center or closer.
Observations indicate the strapping is installed in accordance with recommendations and therefore the
wall framing at the stair is adequate as installed.
