Dear Mr. Cox,
It is our understanding that during the framing inspection,the roof over-framing had been noted by
the inspector to have us verify and provide a letter.The as-built overbuild consists of 2x6 rafters @
24"o.c., bearing on sleepers at one end and hanging into a 2x8 ridge board at the other end. This
construction meets code requirements for over-framing, however the rafter tails were not cut to
provide flush bearing at the sleeper. The inspector instructed that blocking be installed between
each rafter to help secure the rafters from sliding off of the sleepers. The blocking has been
installed but is not directly at the end of each rafter tail.

Upon inspection of the blocking at the overframing locations, it is our opinion that the installed
blocking at the sleepers provides adequate resistance to any potential sliding of the rafters. The
rafters are toe-nailed to the sleepers with additional nailing of the blocking to the rafter and
sleepers. Even at a reduced nail capacity to account for the rafter not having flush bearing, the
nailing and tight blocking have adequate strength to resist sliding of the overframing rafters. No
changes to the installed overframing are required.
