Dear Mr. Lauer:
Our office provided a Foundation Plan, Project Number 1771-04-13E,for the residence being constructed at the
above referenced site. That plan included framing specifications for the main floor, headers, and sheathing/shear
walls (the basement floor framing and roof trusses were by others). On July 6 &21,2021 we visually observed
the as-built framing at the main floor and above grade areas. With exception of the following items, we feel the
framing we observed is in general conformance with the specifications.
The window and door headers did not follow the header schedule ands specifications, however we feel they Y are
acceptable alternatives. The pergola framing was omitted, it is not to be built at this time. Portions of the gable
trusses were modified at the center web to install vents, we feel the modifications are acceptable.
The roof trusses were to be cantilevered over the back porch, however they were not designed to cantilever by the
manufacturer. To correct this a porch beam was installed. The beam has bearing at the corner of the house at the
south end. The north end of the beam is to bear over a 3" diameter steel post. On July 19, 2021 we visually
observed installation of a steel helical pier to support the porch post. The pier was installed to a depth of 15'below
grade (refusal), it is our opinion the pier will be sufficient to support the porch post/beam. The pier and post
should be isolated from the porch slab. At the time of our observations the steel post had not been installed yet.
When the post is installed, it should be welded to the steel cap of the helical pier, and bolted to the porch beam.
The fasteners at the exterior sheathing could not be seen due to finish materials. You indicated the sheathing was
installed with 8d nails at 6" on-center edge and 12" on-center field spacing. This is deficient at the walls. To
compensate for this deficiency;we have given you specifications for additional sheathing on several interior walls
of the home. After the insulation and utilities are inspected and approved, the interior sheathing can be installed
and inspected. Please notify our office when the interior sheathing is installed for a follow up observation to verify
it is sufficient, we will provide a conformance letter if approved.
The recommendations and conclusions presented in this letter are not intended to cover items other than those
listed,site grading/elevations,setbacks,subsurface soil conditions,other structural items,or architectural features
of the building. Feel ,ou have any questions.
S
Sincerely, 0¢'6\A E.
