The building in question was reviewed under the 1958 UBC. The 1958 UBC provided an
Occupancy classification of H for the Building, therefore the unit and egress complies if
it meets the local amendment of:
Section 4-3.51 Section 3302 of Building Code amended. That Section 3302 of
the Building Code be and the same hereby by adding thereto the following words
and figures, to-wit:
"Every sleeping room below the fourth floor in Group H Occupancies shall have
at least one openable window to permit emergency exit or rescue. Such window
shall have a sill height of not more than forty-eight inches (48") above the floor
and shall provide not less than five square feet (5 sq. ft.) of openable area with
no dimension less than twenty-four inches (24").
Building Services will not require any changes in the egress if Unit C-1/100 remains
used as approved, as a sleeping room (guest room). If any change of use takes place in
the future, then all currently adopted codes at the time of the change shall apply.
