Per your reques t, on May 21, 2021 a representative from Straight Line Design, lnc. performed an inspection at the
above referenced address. T he purpose of this site inspection was to observe the exposed so il conditions, and piers
being ins talled for the covered patio roof addition being con structed at the south (rear) of the existing residence .
The patio roof cover addition requires the installation of two (2) 24" square x 42" tall p iers. The excavations for the
required piers were approximately 3'-6" beneath original grade. The soil consisted of an approximate 12" thick layer of
dark brown colored top so il and/or fill material with vegetation over an approximate 2'-6" thick layer of light to medium
brown co lored, moderately dense , slightly moist, s andy to s ilty clay material. The soil was consistent with those
anticipated on the en g ineer approved structura l plans.
Th e piers were equipped with the required four (4) #4 vertical s teel reinforcement (rebar) and #3 "tie-bars" placed at
the top and bottom of each pie r. ln addition , the 4" thick layer of gravel (road b ase) was in sta lled within the bottom of
each pier and th e 24" diame ter sono-tube "sure tops" were ready for installation.
Upon completion of our inspection, we have determined that the encountered soi l conditions and installation of the
piers for the support of the patio roof a ddition were completed within general conformance of the approved p lans
completed by Stra ight Line Design, Inc., Job No. 21-2668, date d April 29, 2021. We approved place ment of the
concrete at this time.
