Per photos th at you forwarded to u s , the OSB wall sheathing stops at the bottom plate in the double top plate with truss clips nailed to both the top and bottom of the double top plate. No sheathing is installed from th e top plate to th e bottom of the roof diaphragm at this time. We understand that the building inspector has identified the end of the sheathing as a potential issue for upl ift and shear. We have reviewed the plans and lateral load paths and have determined additional lateral sheathing and connections are required to satisfy the w ind l oads. 1. The installed sheathing which stops at the bottom of top plate is acceptable so long as the top and bottom plates are nailed together per the minimum requirements specified in the 2018 IBC fastening schedule, Table 2304.10.1. Th e tab le requires a minimum of 16d common face nails at 16" oc max or 1 0d box nails toe na iled at 12" o.c max. 2. In addition to the doubl e top pl ate nailing , truss blocking at the roof trusses is required. The block ing should be installed per detail 12/D2.1 found o n the design drawings. Based on our review, if the above connection are satisfied , the wind load lateral path is resolved . Please contact our office if you h ave any questions. Very truly yours, CTLITHOMPSON, INC.
