The Larimer County assessor's office lists you as the owner of the above referenced address.
This letter is to inform you that we received a comp lai nt that a privacy fence was built at the above-
mentioned address without obtain i ng a permit or inspections. Our reco rds do not i ndica t e t hat a permit
was ever issu ed . The privacy fence is in violation of the 2018 Interna t ion al Resi den tia l Code (IRC) as
adopted by the City of Fort Collins.
2018 IRC Sections:
RlOS .l Required. Any owner or owner's authorized agent who intends to constru ct, enlarge, alt er, r epair,
move, demolish or change the occupancy of a bui lding or structure, or to erect, insta ll, enlarge, alter,
repair, remove, convert or r eplace any electrical, gas, mechanical o r plumbing system, the installat io n of
whi ch is regu la ted by this code, or to ca use any suc h work to be performed, shall first make applicatio n t o
t he buil ding officia l and obtain the requ ired permit.
RlOS .2 Work exempt from permit. Exempt ion from pe r mit requiremen ts of this code shall not be dee med
to grant autho rization for any work to be done in any manner in v iola ti on of th e provisions of this code or
any other laws or ordinances of this jurisdiction. Permits shall not be required for the following:

2. Fences not over 6 feet (1829 mm) high.
The privacy fence is over 6' feet tall and as such, requires a building permit.
This notice allows you 30 days from the date of this letter to obta in a bui lding perm it for t he new fe nce,
lower it to 6' or under or to remove it in its entirety. Please notify me within 30 days of t he d ate of t h is
letter to verify that the above items hav e been corrected.
Failure to comply with this notice of viola t ion is grounds for th e City of Fo rt Collins to issue you a citation
to appear in co urt and fi nes up to 3,000.00 dollars per day from the date of t he violation.
