Gentlemen:
A representative of Weeks & Associates reviewed the steel column cap requirement for
the referenced project. We understand the 3½” steel pipe column in the crawl space
has a steel cap below the steel beam and has tabs bent over the bottom flange of the
beam in lieu of welds to the beam. This connection is sufficient to carry the design
loads.
