(970) 282-8005 e-mail rllcse@qwestoffice.net February 12, 2021 Mr. Bob Peterson ABD Designs 4803 Innovation Dr., Suite 1 Fort Collins, CO 80525 Re:3638 Voyager Lane Fort Collins, Colorado CSE Project No. C9005-153 Dear Mr. Peterson: CSE Consultants has reviewed the requirements for enlarging an existing sliding door to a new wider 9'-0 width sliding door at the entry to the rear deck per the architectural plans provided (refer to ABD Project No. 4112 sheet A1.0 dated 12/14/20). The new opening supports approximately 43½ foot span roof trusses and 12'-10" maximum span second floor joists. A roof snow load of 30 psf; a Basic Wind Speed Vult = 140 mph (Allowable Stress Vasd = 108 mph), Exposure C; and a floor live load of 40 psf were used in this 2018 IBC structural review. Refer to previous December 15, 2020 letter - the (2) 1 3/4 x 11 7/8 LVL depth is not possible per ABD and a (3) ply header is feasible at this wall. Recommendations for revised header at the new opening are as follows: New 9'-0 width Sliding Door Opening: New Header:(3) 1 3/4 x 9½ laminated veneer lumber (LVL). Fb = 2600 psi min, E = 2000 ksi min. New Trimmer Studs:(2) 2x6 Hem-Fir No. 2 or better New King Studs:(2) 2x6 Hem-Fir No. 2 or better Sincerely, CSE Consultants Ron L. Lindburg, P.E.
