Jeff,
Based on the soils observed in the borings drilled yesterday, my preliminary initial evaluation of the site
indicates that the site is suitable for your planned construction. The lean clay overburden soils appear
to be low swelling, therefore, spread footing/slab-on-grade should be appropriate for construction of
the 4-plex residence. We'll get the swells going in the next day or so, after they have been completed I
will be able to give you some design criteria for the foundation. Even if the clays swell somewhat (which
I don't anticipate), overexcavation/backfill procedures could be employed to reduce the swell potential
of the clays for support of shallow foundations and floor slabs. Any Q's in the meantime, feel free to
call.

I spoke with Jeff Eggleston regarding the need for a T,IS for his development project at 621 S.
Meldrum. Reviewing the information he provided, 4 plex with 3 bedrooms per unit, and
reviewing the site I've waived the requirement for the vehicular portion of the TIS.
I did refer him to Transportation Planning to confirm the requirements for the ped/bike portion of
a TIS.
