Dear Mr. Galida:
As you are aware, the City of Fort Collins Planning and Zoning Board took
formal action on the naming of Stone Street in front of the Olander School at
their regular meeting of January 22, 1990. Although the resolution passed
unanimously, it was suggested by the Board that the name be lengthened to
AUNTIE STONE STREET to more accurately honor Elizabeth Hickok Robbins
Stone.
It was felt by some of the members that the short version was insufficient in
recalling the contributions of one our earliest educators. It would be
unfortunate if the general public assumed the name reflected certain geological
conditions rather than an important pioneer citizen.
