Re: Colorado Early Colleges - Fort Collins
Scope: Radio Frequency Signal Level Testing
Per the requirements of Poudre Fire Authority and the City of Fort Collins, we were onsite to perform RF
signal level testing of the above referenced building. Code requirements are under IFC 2012 and NFPA
72 and state that the building must exceed -95 dBm in 95% of each area of each floor and 100% in areas
considered critical.
We used our Harris two-way radios, set to the frequencies used by Poudre Fire for this testing. Our signal
level readings ranged from -68 dBm to -93 dBm. Based on code requirements it is our opinion that this
building does meet minimum code requirements and will not need a signal enhancement system. It is
ultimately up to the fire department, based on our signal level readings, and their over the air testing if
they choose, as to whether they would pass or fail this building. Copies of our results are being sent to
them as well.
