15. Question: Are there any associated health risks?
Answer: If you were to spend time in front of the antenna array, there
might be health concerns because of the radio frequency
radiation. The FCC has strict regulations on the minimum
height of the arrays that we must meet.
16. Comment: This isn't as offensive as the older style towers with the
triangular arrays. I could live with this.

10. Question: How about the park 1/z block away? What's to keep a kid
from climbing the tower?
Answer: The equipment will be surrounded by a six-foot cedar fence.
All equipment is wrapped and insulated. There are no
footholds on the pole.
11. Question: Will there be any lights at the base or up top?
Answer: No lights anywhere. There will be reflective tape on the
bollards at the base so no one driving in the service alley will
run into it at night. It is too short to trigger aircraft
requirements.
12. Question: Where can I see a pole like this that exists in Fort Collins
tomorrow?
Answer: Anne Aspen: There is a similar pole just north of the old
Perkins and south of the EMS store. It is very similar but it
was painted dark brown to blend in with the coniferous trees
there. This one will be painted desert tan since that color
seems to be the least visually intrusive against the Fort
Collins sky on any given day.
13. Question: What's to say that you won't go in and add more equipment
to this pole?
Answer: We would have to go through this public process again. We
can't even change the color without going through this
process again. And also, we or another company would have
to install additional equipment below the equipment that
we're proposing here. Because tree canopy interferes with
the radio frequencies and transmission, it is unlikely any cell
phone provider would want to locate that low on the pole..
14. Question: How does this benefit me if I don't have a cell phone?
Answer: It doesn't necessarily. It's maybe like another utility that
you wouldn't use, like cable TV. There could be indirect

3. Question: Where are Cingular's other poles located? How many are
there?
Answer: Mike showed the audience a coverage map with the other
poles located. The coverage map is proprietary so a copy will
not be included in the public record, however, there are six
other Cingular monopoles in Fort Collins.
4. Question: Why this site?
Answer: We're trying to expand our coverage in this area and need to
locate somewhere in this immediate area for contiguity with
the rest of our service. We looked into other sites including
the roof of King Sooper's. The landlord said no to that idea.
We looked at nearby steeples and other power poles but
nothing else worked.
5. Question: Why not locate further west?
Answer: That would be too close to the mountains which cause
interference. Also, there needs to be contiguity with the
other towers so that they can relay information from tower. to
tower.
6. Question: Do the towers interconnect?
Answer: Yes, but I don't know the technical details. The towers must
be close enough to adjacent towers to be able to relay
information to and from them.
7. Question: What about capacity?
Answer: Yes, that's the other thing that this project will address
besides coverage.
S. Question: Will it affect my Verizon cell phone reception?
Answer: No, they are on different frequencies.
9. Question: Will this facility interfere with my television reception?
Answer: Theoretically, it is possible for the radio frequencies
transmitted to and from the tower to interfere with the TV

PROJECT: Cingular Taft and Elizabeth (Cedarwood Plaza) Wireless
Telecommunication Facility - Type I

The Applicant is proposing to install a 50-foot tall wireless monopole on the
southeast of the Cedarwood Plaza building in the service drive aisle, behind the
Farmer's Table restaurant.
The meeting started at about 6:40pm.
QUESTIONS, CONCERNS, COMMENTS, RESPONSES
1. Question: How tall is the proposed tower?
Answer: 47 feet.
Anne Aspen: The height can be no greater than the setback
from the property line, which in this case is 47 feet.
2. Question: How does the height of this pole relate to the height of the
light poles in the Cedarwood parking lot?
Answer: Don't know.
