Sheri Wamhoff Development Review Engineer City of Fort Collins Engineering Department 281 North College Fort Collins, Colorado 80524 RE: Revised Detention Pond Re -Design Peak View Subdivision PEI No. 03-070 Dear Sheri: We are submitting for your review the revised detention pond layout and grading for the Peak View Subdivision. The re -design of this detention pond only includes modifications to the layout and grading and not to the analysis of the conveyance structures to the pond or the outlet control and spill structures. Our criteria regarding the detention volume was obtained from the storm drainage report prepared by Craig C. Houdeshell from the Engineering Design and Research Corporation. Using Mr. Houdeshell's Pond Rating Curve —revised September 14, 2002—the needed volume (based on a water surface elevation of 5117.6) is 102,126 cubic feet. The re- design of the detention pond, as illustrated by the attached drawing C-1.1, has the capacity to detain 104,828 cubic feet at elevation 5117.6. As for the block retaining walls, the contractor shall submit shop drawings designed and sealed by a Professional Engineer registered in Colorado to our office for approval prior to commencing with the wall construction. Additionally, we will work with the contractor to determine the most feasible construction method for the handrail foundation in conjunction with the wall design. Sincerely, 1C.
