COLLINS, CO. 80522 custom homes, multifamily, and light commercial August 14, 1980 Mr. Marc Engemoen Engineering Department City of Ft. Collins Ft."Collins, Colorado 80521 Dear Mr. Engemoen: This is in response to your letter of August 8 coneerning the detention pond at the Hanna Subdivision. After receiving your letter of July 16, I made an inspection of the area. I then tried to trace the origination of the water, which I was unable to do. I then visited with Dick Rutherford of Stewart Engineering. Dick maintains that they have shot grades on the detention pond add that it is installed according to the utility plan. It appears to me that the problem is caused by the drainage swale coming into the pond from Hanna Street. This was designed fairly flat until it reaches the outlet when it drops off sharply. It would seem',;the solution to the problem is to dig a swale along Vine Drive slightly lower than the detention pond bottom to contain the irrigation water coming from the west and keep it from filling the entire deten- tion area. To do this, however, we will have to wait until the irrigation water stops flowing. I would be happy to discuss this with you at your convenience. Sincerely, Glenn R.
