HomeMy WebLinkAboutSPRING CANYON COMMUNITY PARK - Filed GC-GENERAL CORRESPONDENCE - 2006-12-29Date: October 4, 2005 Craig L. Foreman Manager Park Planning and Development P.O. Box 580,215 North Mason Street City of Fort Collins, 80522-0580 Dear Craig; The Dixon Canon Reservoir Company agrees to the changes proposed to the ditch system that serves Spring Canyon Community Park and Tefft Acres. The proposed changes to the ditch system will improve the availability of water to the park and to Tefit Acres. The proposed change to install a new pipe from the existing clean out in Pineridge Natural Area to the splitter box near the Cottonwood Glen Park pond is an important improvement. The present pipe has considerable seepage loss to the south. The connection for the Cottonwood Glenn lateral is deteriorating quickly. This adjustment will result in a considerable savings in water loss and maintenance efforts which will eliminate the need to encroach on the Natural Area for repairs in this area. The new pipe line to be installed from the splitter box across the park to the Teffi Acre property line will replace a considerable distance of deteriorated pipe and open ditch. The new pipe with storage basin and Parshall Flume will be a much needed improvement. Thanks to the City for working with the Reservoir Company on these needed improvements. Sincerely,- Michael G. Calhoon President Dixon Canon Reservoir Company Cc: Bill Whirty John Henry Services Transportation Planning MEMORANDUM TO: Engineering Development Review Staff FROM: Mark Jackson, Transportation Planning Manager U_x Master Street Plan amendment for Spring Canyon Park DATE: June 27, 2005 Following review of the Transportation Impact Analysis for the road network impacted by the proposed Spring Canyon Park development, Transportation Planning, Traffic Operations and Engineering staffs are in agreement that the current facility type designation of Horsetooth Road, from Taft Road west, can be downgraded from four -lane arterial to Collector with Parking. The arterial designation on this portion of Horsetooth Road is a vestige of earlier plans when Overland Trail was intended to connect south to Horsetooth. This arterial -arterial connection was removed from the MSP in the mid 1990's and as a result Horsetooth does not warrant this intense a design west of Taft Road. Transportation Planning Staff will amend the Master Street Plan to reflect this change in facility type as part of the annual MSP cleanup. Please let me know if you have any questions or if I can provide you with additional information.
