RE: Proposed alley vacation block 293 — West Side
Dear Mr. Torgerson:
Per your letter dated October 1, 2003 asking the City to vacate a portion of the
alley in block 293 of the City of Fort Collins, I regret to inform you that the City
Engineer will not support the vacation of this alley. After sending out the request
to vacate the alley to City and private utility companies and the adjacent
neighboring property owners, we received many responses asking our office not
to proceed with the right-of-way vacation. Comments ranged from the utility
companies needing the alley for service and maintenance of their existing
facilities, to adjoining neighbors who use or plan to use the alley for back yard
access. Some indicated they are planning on building garages to serve their
homes with access from the alley.
Without approval from those impacted by the potential right-of-way vacation I am
not able to process this request any further.

RE: RIGHT-OF-WAY ALLEY VACATION REQUEST
Attached for your review and comment is a request to vacate a portion of an alley right-
of-way. This alley is located on the south end of Block 293, City of Fort Collins; north of
Maple Street between Wood Street and North Grant Avenue. (See Vicinity Map.)
Enclosed is a letter from Mikal Torgerson of MTA requesting vacation of this alley and a
sketch showing the portion of the alley right-of-way to be vacated.
Please let me know if there is any problem or concern with this right-of-way alley
vacation. Return comments to Dave Stringer in the Development Review area by
November 14, 2003. If we do not hear from you by this date, we will assume you have
no objections to this proposal. Please call Dave Stringer at 221-6605 if you have any
questions. Thank you.
