Dear Dean:
As related to you this date, the manhole at the North end of Pine Street which
was installed by another contractor is approximately eighteen inches lower
than the proposed finish grade.
Work on our project was started several weeks prior to the installation of this
manhole. A permanent bench mark and finish elevations were established and
in place. With this information available we feel the obligation to raise the
present manhole to an acceptable elevation rests soley with the City Utilities
Department and/or the other contractor.
We are willing to accept a plus or minus three inch discrepancy, but cannot
accept the present condition with the attendant possibility of excavation and
raising the cone to accomodate city code requirements for extension rings.
As we are nearing the time for installation of paving we need a solution to
this problem. Your immediate response is respectfully requested.
