HomeMy WebLinkAboutSOFT GOLD PARK - Filed GC-GENERAL CORRESPONDENCE - 2004-08-31Cultural, Library, and Recreational Services Park Planning and Development Division City of Fort Collins June 10,2003 Project Reviewers, The City of Fort Collins, Park Planning and Development Division is submitting the Soft Gold Neighborhood Park project for the Basic Development Review process. Soft Gold Park's physical address is 520 Hickory Street. Soft Gold Park is a 17-acre neighborhood park that is located in the northwest quadrant of Fort Collins. Hickory Village Mobile Courts borders the east side of the park site. Magpie Meander Natural Area boundary adjoins the park site along the west boundary. A farmed agricultural use property owned by Don Willox borders the park site along the northern boundary. And existing Hickory Street R.O.W. borders the southern boundary of the park property. The existing zoning for the area is POL — Public Open Lands. The park is an allowed use per the Land Use Code and the plan meets the criteria for a neighborhood park set by the City of Fort Collins Parks and Recreation Policy Plan. Soft Gold Park Development Schedule: The park is scheduled to start construction in summer of 2003. Park construction will run through the winter and wrap up in the spring/summer of 2004 when landscaping and seeding can be completed. Foreman, P.E., Department Manager, Park Planning & Development Cl FR: Jason Stutzman, P.E., Project Manager, Park Planning & Development RE: Hickory Street Extension at Soft Gold Park This memo commits the City of Fort Collins, Park Planning and Development Department to pay for the appropriate street improvement costs for Soft Gold Park, should Hickory Street be extended across the park site frontage in the future. Funding for the improvements will be available and held in the Neighborhood Parkland Account. We have prepared a preliminary roadway design for Hickory Street per the Engineering Department's requests. All involved staff understands the Hickory Street extension schedule could be many years in the future and that the preliminary roadway design is an appropriate level of design at this time. The park site has been designed to avoid placing any park improvements in the planned right-of-way area per the current City street standard for Hickory Street.
