Project Plan – Community Advisory Committee on the Climate Action Plan Co-created by Lindsay Ex and Chris Hutchinson – December 2015 Background 1. In early 2015, the Fort Collins City Council adopted a Climate Action Plan with substantial goals to reduce community greenhouse gas emissions 20 percent below 2005 levels by 2020, 80 percent below 2005 levels by 2030, and be carbon neutral by 2050. 2. As part of this plan, the City formed a Community Advisory Committee to help guide the City's efforts on greenhouse gas emission reductions. The committee will start meeting in January 2016, and includes a broad spectrum of business, social, and community representatives. 3. The City feels that professional facilitation would be effective to ensure the diverse perspectives within this group are heard, understood, and applied to the Climate Action Plan implementation. Primary Objective Broad community perspectives are surfaced and focused to help guide implementation of the Fort Collins Climate Action Plan. Service Provided - Expert facilitation for four 2-hour quarterly meetings of the Community Advisory Committee in 2016 - Facilitation and support of related staff planning meetings around the Community Advisory Committee - Transcribed documentation of group conversations and recommendations - Regular feedback with staff and adjustment of the facilitation process as needed for effective results Time and Fund Investment The duration of this project will be 12 months, starting January 2016. All times below are estimated, and are minimized through Trebuchet Group work and preparation around each meeting and assignment. Staff time Committee member time Funds 2-hour meeting per quarter 2-3 hours design, planning and debrief meetings each quarter 2-hour meeting per quarter Individual work as needed from the meetings $10,000 We will invoice 50% to be paid prior to start of the project, 25% after the second Committee meeting, and the remainder after the last Committee meeting. The City is responsible for venues and refreshments for participants. Travel is not anticipated for this project.
