Poudre Fire Authority Station #8 Building

At your request, CTL|Thompson, Inc. is pleased to provide this fee estimate for Construction
Observation and Materials Testing services for the Poudre Fire Authority Station #8 Building project
located in Timnath, Colorado. We understand testing for this project should be performed in
accordance with City of Fort Collins standards and specifications.
We further understand that the city will use our estimate for the basis of establishing a budget for the
project and to issue a purchase order for our services. Our estimated scope of services and
associated fees were prepared according to the terms and conditions of our professional services
agreement with the City of Fort Collins and are presented below.
Earthwork: Compaction testing will be required for items such as footing subgrade, foundation wall
backfill, slab subgrade, pavement subgrade, utility trench backfill, sidewalk subgrade, and curb
subgrade. Excavation and proof roll observations may also be necessary. We understand that fly
ash treatment is recommended under pavements so have included that in our estimate. We
estimate a total of 60 site visits will be necessary.

Concrete Testing: Concrete testing will be required for the footings, columns, foundation walls,
slabs, curb, sidewalk, patios, and pavement. We estimate 55 concrete tests consisting of 4
cylinders each will be necessary.

Reinforcing Steel Observation: Reinforcing steel observations will be necessary for the footings,
columns, walls, and slabs. We estimate a total of 22 site visits will be necessary.

Masonry Special Inspection: Masonry inspection and sampling will be necessary for the walls and
enclosures. We estimate a total of 46 site visits, and 4 sets of grout, mortar, and prism samples will
be necessary.

Structural Steel Weld and Bolt Inspection: Structural steel weld and bolt inspections will be
necessary and will be performed by an ICC certified inspector. We estimate a total of 15 site visits
will be necessary.

It should be emphasized that this estimate is based upon assumptions of actual quantities and
contractor’s schedule. The fee will be charged only for the actual hours and unit rates presented for
tests and observations requested by the owner, contractor or subcontractors who schedule the
services.
