The work includes all materials required to complete the work, including all surveying, erosion control, labor, equipment, materials, and traffic control. Construction Activity Phase I - Construct new curb and gutter, and sidewalk on McClelland Drive. - Construct new pedestrian ramps in southeast and northeast quadrant of intersection. - Remove and reset light pole/vault and traffic signal pole (by CITY) on McClelland Drive. - Cut back existing median to clear area for new crosswalk. - Begin construction of crosswalk on Drake Road. - Reset chain link fence. Traffic Maintenance Phase I - No active traffic control on McClelland Drive since all of the work will be done behind the existing curb and gutter. - Close outside eastbound lane on Drake Road. - Close both through westbound lanes on Drake Road. Shift traffic to left turn lanes. - Maintain vehicle movements as shown on drawings. Construction Activity Phase II - Remove pavement to sawcut line. - Remove curb and gutter on McClelland Drive. - Pave McClelland Drive from sawcut to new curb and gutter. - Build new crosswalk on McClelland Drive from curb return to sawcut. - Complete removal and repaving of crosswalk on Drake Road. - Rebuild median nose on Drake Road. Traffic Maintenance Phase II - Close existing right turn lane on McClelland Drive. Shift all northbound traffic to left turn lane. - Close left through eastbound lane on Drake Road, place all traffic on right through lane. - Close both westbound left turn lanes on Drake Road, place all traffic on through lanes. - Flag McClelland Drive from STA 124+32.00 to STA 127+20.00 then maintain two lanes to Drake Road. Flagging will only be needed when 2” overlay is being paved. - Maintain vehicle movements as shown on drawings. GENERAL CONDITIONS AND GENERAL REQUIREMENTS Contract time 60 calendar days, final completion within 10 days of substantial completion Liquidated Damages - $1,000.00 per day substantial completion, $500.00 per day final acceptance Construction Hours - 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday Provide Sanitary Facilities Utility Coordination with Light and Power/Traffic Striping/signing by City forces TRAFFIC CONTROL PLAN – GENERAL NOTES Special Traffic Control Plan requirements for this project are as follows: During the construction of this project, traffic shall use the present traveled roadway unless identified on the plans or approved by the Engineer. The Contractor shall maintain one lane open in each direction at all times on W. Drake Road. The Contractor shall maintain access on McClelland Drive for the MAX BRT Service at all times during normal operating hours. The Contractor shall not have construction equipment or materials in the lanes open to traffic at any time, unless approved by the Engineer. During the resurfacing work, only one lane may be closed to traffic at any time unless approved by the Engineer. Traffic shall not be delayed for more than 10 minutes or as directed by the Engineer. At least one week prior to starting construction, the Contractor shall notify the Engineer of the date the Contractor intends to start construction.
