MAIN OBJECTIVE(S) OF PROJECT: __Rejuvinate and improve the open space of Richards
Lake community. The native grasses need fortification and for overall aesthetics and wildlife
enhancement additional trees and native plants are highly desirable

DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT (INCLUDE SPECIES, NUMBER, AND SIZE OF NATIVE PLANTS
TO BE PLANTED; NATIVE SPECIES SEED MIX AND SIZE OF AREA TO BE SEEDED;
SPECIES LIST OF EXOTIC PLANTS TO BE REMOVED) (Please include scientific
names for native species to be planted, not just the common names):

The initial phase of the project will be to reseed about 1 acre of native grass with ~50# three-way
blend of 34% Blue Grama 33% Sheep Fescue, 33% Canadian Bluegrass and ~25# of Sundancer
Buffalo Grass. Install and provide drip irrigation to ~45 shrubs (rubber rabbit
brush/Chrysothamnus nauseosus, common ninebark/Physocarpus opulifolius, and Red-osier
dogwood/swida sericea). Cottonwood pruning (approx 1/3 population per year).

SCHEDULE OF PROJECT:
Phase 1 (the seeding) will begin ASAP, phase 2 (the plantings) will begin next spring. Maintenance
of the new grass and plantings as well as weed control of the area will be ongoing throughout the
season. Cottonwood pruning will be scheduled as required with arborist

STATEMENT OF VOLUNTEER COMMITMENT:
BoD and HOA volunteers currently provide oversight and minor pruning and weed control of the
area. Volunteers are committed to aggressively pursue weed control and maintenance this
upcoming year to aid in the natural grass growth and eradicate the weeds which are both unsightly
and nasty to the overall openspace. Volunteers will also be overseeing and working with vendors
for the seeding and plant installations as well as to assess further improvements and enhancements.
