RE: RFP 8170 Commercial Extractor Washing Machines
Dear Jill,
We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to the Poudre Fire Authority washer needs. I
believe after careful review our proposal and the Milnor branded washer we offer you will find us
the right company to provide the 5 each 25# washers.
5 each MWR12X5 Milnor 25# washers $23,373.40
I want to let you know that Milnor is the only manufacture that I am aware of that offers a Still
Fill on the washer for fire departments. What his means is the wash basket will not start rotating
until the specified water level has been reached thus not beating up the gear without lubrication
(water) in the wash load. This is for the wash and rinse steps
Price above includes 10” metal mounting base, incoming factory freight, and deliver to 5
fire stations, bolt, level and grout of each machine. Also includes connecting 110/60/1 phase
power to proper electrical outlet, connection water and drains. Start-up and Training is included
with this as well. Two of the stations will get a small drain trough and sump pump which is
included in the above pricing.
The warranty for the washers will be 30 day labor warranty and Milnor’s 5/3 year parts warranty-
See Milnor’s warranty bond with this proposal. We will honor as well the requested 2 year
installation guarantee.
Martin-Ray Laundry Systems has been in business for 26 years and I have been with them for 23
years. Our main office is located at 2050 West 9th Avenue Denver, CO 80204 where we have our
staffed parts and service department. We currently service Fort Collins from our Denver office
where we have 4 full time service technicians and three full time parts professional. I will be the
main contact for this project.
I acknowledge our consent to adhere to the scope of work and the service agreement.

PROTECT FIREFIGHTER GEAR WITH
GEAR GUARDIAN WASHER-EXTRACTORS
Created specifically for firefighter gear
Gear Guardian washer-extractors have 30 different programmable
wash formulas, including 10 pre-programmed strictly for decontami-
nating firefighter gear (all 10 can be re-programmed). User-friendly
microprocessor controls prompt you through each programming step
and prevent errors. And, all Gear Guardian washer-extractors comply
with NFPA 1851 standards in maintenance and care of protective gear.
Easy Operation
Anyone can operate a MILNOR Gear Guardian washer-extractor.
Formula choices are clear. Just pick the right formula, and press the
start button. Then full automation takes over. The machine also keeps
you informed by displaying information, including what function is
underway and how much formula time remains. Any trouble with the
machine? Check troubleshooting messages to minimize downtime.
Control protects turnouts by not allowing gear to tumble during fill.
And automatic supply injection means no attention is needed while
the machine is washing.
Roomy wash cylinders
Firefighting gear is bulky, so the spacious Gear Guardian cylinder
is essential for a fast, commercial-quality wash. Big ribs lift and drop
gear to help remove heavy soil. The large cylinder cuts processing
time, and you can launder more gear per load.
Speeds processing
Heavily-soiled firefighting gear needs effective rinsing. Intermediate
extractions “sling” water and chemicals from gear prior to the next
rinse. Gear gets cleaner faster! Gear Guardian washer-extractors have
the unique ability to allow as many intermediate extractions as you
need, since they use continuous duty (rather than intermittent
duty) motors. Low extract speeds are designed into MILNOR Gear
Guardian machines to better protect turnout gear. High spin cycles
can damage these valuable goods.
Helps avoid vibration
A special load distribution speed before extraction prevents bulky
gear from creating an imbalance inside the cylinder. This helps avoid
vibration during the extraction. Besides saving time (since you don’t
have to stop the machine to manually correct the load), less vibration
means longer machine life.
Distribution speed also protects gear by preventing tumbling action
while water is draining from the cylinder.
Rugged Construction
Bulky, heavy turnouts can be rough on a machine, but not a
Gear Guardian washer-extractor. It’s built for long service under
tough conditions by the most respected name in commercial laundry
machinery.
The T-Series and V-Series models feature continuous (rather than spot)
welding, large tapered roller bearings, a triple shaft seal to shield
bearings from water on most models, heavy gauge console materials,
and heavy-duty motors.
A choice in sizes
Gear Guardian washer-extractors are available from 40 lb. to 80 lb.
capacities. The size you choose depends on the amount of gear you
need to process within a given timeframe.
1. Light soil turnouts
2. Heavy soil turnouts/gloves
3. Light soil moisture barriers

External Fuse/Breaker, Wiring, and Disconnect Requirements
An external fuse or circuit breaker and a disconnect switch must be provided in the facility for
(and dedicated to) the machine. These may be in the same or separate, permanently mounted
electric boxes. Electric power and ground connections will be made between the incoming power
junction box on the machine and this external box (or one of the boxes).
1. Fuse or Circuit Breaker Size
Refer to the “External Fuse and Wire Sizes...” document for your machine model. This document
will be found either in the machine's installation manual or in manual MAEFUSE1AE “External
Fuse and Wire Sizes for Milnor Machines.” Choose the fuse or circuit breaker from the
appropriate column of the table provided, as follows:
1.1. If a fuse is used—Match the fuse listed in the “Fuse” column for your machine's voltage.
The specified fuse sizes are consistent with the USA National Electric Code (NEC), section 430-
52, exception No. 2, Part B, which states: “The rating of a time-delay (dual-element) fuse shall be
permitted to be increased, but shall in no case exceed 225 percent of the full-load current.”
1.2. If a standard circuit breaker is used—Match the amperage rating listed in the
“Breaker” column for your machine's voltage.
1.3. If an inverse time circuit breaker is used—Match the characteristics (amperage
rating) of the fuse listed in the “Fuse” column for your machine's voltage. When applied to an
inverse time circuit breaker, the specified fuse sizes are consistent with the USA National
Electric Code (NEC), section 430-52, exception No. 2, Part C, which states: “The rating of an
inverse time circuit breaker shall be permitted to be increased, but shall in no case exceed 400
percent for full-load currents of 100 amperes or less.”
2. Wire Size
Use wiring no smaller than that listed for your machine's voltage in the “Wire size...” column in
the “External Fuse and Wire Sizes...” document. The table value applies to runs up to 50 feet (15
meters). Use the next larger size for runs 50 to 100 feet (15 to 30 meters). Use wire two sizes
larger for runs greater than 100 feet (30 meters). If an inverse time circuit breaker is used and
local codes require a larger wire size than that specified by Milnor, abide by the local code.
Notice 1 : The specified wire size may appear too small for the fuse or circuit breaker shown.
However, it is consistent with both the load imposed and with the USA National Electric Code.
3. Ground
The ground wire and connections must ensure a reliable earth ground (zero potential). Use wiring
of at least as large a gauge as that required for incoming power. Do not rely on conduit, machine
anchorage, etc. Use the ground lug provided in the incoming power junction box on the machine.
4. Disconnect Switch for Lockout/Tagout
The disconnect switch must permit personnel to disconnect and lockout/tagout electric power
from the machine. In the USA, refer to OSHA standard 1910.147 “The control of hazardous
energy (lockout/tagout)”. Refer to the USA National Electric Code for requirements on locating
the switch. In other locales, abide by these standards if no other local codes apply.

Notes:
1. Not all voltages available in all models.
2. Running amps are for the portion of the cycle with the highest, steady-state demand (after the
motor is up to speed) and are approximate.
3. If fuses are used, they must be Bussmann Fusetron or similar lag type. If standard circuit
breakers are used, they must match the amperage rating listed in the "Breaker" column. If
inverse time circuit breakers are used, they must match the characteristics (amperage rating)
listed in the "Fuse" column. An over-sized fuse or breaker poses a fire hazard (see caution
below). An under-sized fuse or breaker will trip needlessly.
4. Wire size is per the USA National Electric Code. Use wire size shown for runs up to 50 feet
(15 meters). Use next larger size for runs 50 to 100 feet (15 to 30 m). Use wire two sizes
larger for runs greater than 100 feet (30 m). Under-sized wiring poses a fire hazard (see
caution). This can also cause voltage drops even if the wire's current-carrying capacity
exceeds that of the fuse/breaker. Voltage drops cause machine faults and reduce motor
starting torque (e.g., a 5% voltage drop causes a motor to produce only 90% of rated torque).
Voltage drop is greatest the instant the motor is energized, when highest torque is required.
5. See document BFUUUF01 "External Fuse...Requirements" for more information.
CAUTION 1 : Fire hazard—An over-sized fuse/circuit breaker or under-sized wiring can
permit the wiring to overheat and cause a fire.
• Always use the fuse/circuit breaker and wire size specified here.
