Let me know if you have any questions or comments. Following are issues or events that resulted in additional effort and subsequently required/will require additional contract time. T3 Basin Equipment — Upon draining the basin it was discovered that carbon steel flight deflectors were installed on the center section of columns that were 16" in width. This equipment was not identified in the original scope for replacement. Stainless steel replacements were ordered, fabricated and installed. Approximately one week additional time was associated with this item. An additional item that delayed the project approximately five days was the effort associated with sprocket fabrication. When the manufactures representative was on site for inspection and start-up it was discovered that the drive sprockets were slightly misaligned. After numerous attempts to align the sprockets as instructed it was discovered that the issue was due to a manufacturing defect. The issue resulted in Hydro having to reinstall staging, remove the defective sprockets and reinstalled the correctly aligned sprockets. T3 Basin —There was a significant amount of sludge still in the basin when the treatment train was taken off line. The additional cleaning and removal of the sludge added approximately two weeks. Ladder/Basin Access — The project drawings did not detail a ladder; however it was known that plant staff desired to have one incorporated into the work to provide for safer access during maintenance and inspection. The assumed intent was to locate the ladder inside the T3 settling basin; however due to the operating equipment, this was not possible. The final location, in the flocculation basin, required an access door fabrication. The delay in locating the ladder and the fabrication of the access door resulted in approximately three additional contract days. Slide Gate — The slide gate was identified as needing the stem extension and other miscellaneous items repaired/replaced. Once the repair was made the gate did not "seat" as need to completely close. Two attempts were made to adjust the gate; while the adjustments did increase the ability to close the gate, it still does not fully seal. It has been determined that a full plant shutdown will be necessary to accomplish the final gate adjustment or seal replacement. Plant staff requested the shutdown in the fall of 2016; therefore additional contract time will be required. Filters 9-11 Coating — The project scope was created without the ability to take the filters off line and perform a thorough inspection. After the filters were taken out of service two additional areas were identified as needing coatings; the troughs and the piping inside the filter chase. This additional coating area added approximately one week. UV Backwash Line, Demo — The original scope of work called for the demolition of 36" piping from the 12" tee, south to the point where the 36" turned and went through the floor. Upon complete of this effort plant staff identified two additional areas where pipe and valve demolition was desired. The removal of the pipe and valves requested added approximately eleven days. UV Backwash Line, Exterior —The installation of the exterior HDPE pipeline has been preceding over the past two weeks. However, the significant amount of rainfall has resulted in several days of delay. Horsetooth Dissipater Valve — The project calls for the removal and replacement of a 24" valve. Plant staff requested that this work be done in the fall of 2016 therefore additional contract time will be required. Pipeline Repair — On two occasions plant staff discovered leaking pipelines around the water quality lab. Hydro was requested to proceed with the repair of both lines and the work was completed as instructed which resulted in approximately five additional contract days. Horsetooth Dissipater Roadway — Plant staff has requested additional curb & gutter, concrete sidewalk, concrete paving and asphalt associated with the dissipater roadway. Mark Kempton, on 5/22/15, has requested we proceed with this work. Additional contract time will be required for this item.
