On the 7x12 vaults, the swift lifts are shown in the vertical edge of the lid vs. the top of the lid. The min length for the vertical edge us of the swift lift is a 9-1/2" long anchor. I'm having a hard time making that work with the hatch door in the Lid B, Lid D and Lid E. Would it be ok to leave those in the tops of the lid? A1. 7 X 12 swift lifts in the lids: We prefer having them in the sides of the lids to reduce tripping hazards and to allow dirt and moisture to drain out, but I think I can understand your concern. Do you run into the same problem if you move the swift lifts to the adjacent sides of the lids where the separation from the hatch doors is greater? If not, I think we work with a design that has on the top until we figure out another design. Q2. Also, can you look at the 10x10 lower section plan view and tell me if we are supposed to have 1" inserts in the top of the floor near the cast in strips to stabilize the ladder? I currently just have swift lifts in the tops of the floors more like the lid layout and I think I might be missing inserts in the floor? A2. 10 X 10 vault 1” inserts in floor: Thank you for bringing that to our attention. We have found other cable pulling attachment methods and do not use the 1” inserts in the floors as much anymore, so they are not absolutely necessary. We would definitely like the swift lifts in the floor for setting the vaults, as they are much safer than the inserts we used to use for that purpose. Q3. One last note. In the specs 4.2.1 - Qualification Tests - Concrete, it notes that "All cylinders shall be tested by an approved independent testing laboratory...." We do our own test at our plant per NPCA guidelines. Should I mark that we do not meet the specification due to this or just a side note on that? A3. Testing by independent laboratory: Please identify using your lab as an alternate approach to our specification, and we can take it into account as an option to using an external lab. In the past, we have reviewed on-site testing laboratories for capabilities and may approve that if we are satisfied that they will support our quality control requirements.
