Mr. Tracy Dyer
City of Fort Collins - Engineering
Horsetooth and Ziegler Conceptual Modifications Study
Project Description and Scope of Services
Dear Tracy,
Description
The Fort Collins Engineering and Traffic departments want to investigate modifications to
the existing Horsetooth and Ziegler roundabout to determine if there are changes that can
be built to increase capacity and enhance the safety of the intersection without complete
reconstruction.
Interwest and the Fox Tuttle Hernandez Transportation Group (FTH) will assist City staff by
looking at physical layout changes to the intersection and then preparing RODEL models
to assess the traffic flow / delay.
Recent traffic counts have been provided to the City. Our team will need any other
projections (proposed development traffic impact studies, and traffic growth rates) to
increase the traffic to whatever level is desired by the staff for this study.
At this time, we would propose an allowance for each firm for meetings, drafting,
coordination, approximate construction quantities, and traffic modeling ($4,500 for FTH
and $11,000 for Interwest). We will proceed with brainstorming solutions for this
intersection in December with the intent to have a short memo discussing options in
January/February.
Total proposed fee for this work order - $15,500.
Please call me at 970-460-8471 if you have any questions or need any additional
information.
Thanks,
Michael Oberlander, PE
