College Ave Fort Collins, CO 80521 RE: Steel Stairway Assemblies on the Spring Creek Overpass — Extension of Time Count Request Mark, Please let this letter serve as request to extend the contract completion date for the Steel Stairway Assemblies on the Spring Creek Overpass. Per your letter dated September 25, 2014, the, City of Fort Collins noted that the shop drawings had been returned to CEI and that all of the City and FHU's comments were addressed. You also noted that the City of Fort Collins anticipated the installation in late October, 2014. There were several factors that lead to an anticipated completion date of late October 2014, and to the actual completion date of December 19, 2014. CEI.would like to request a substantial completion date of December 19, 2014. . When Central Denver Ironworks (CDI) began fabrication, it was discovered during a field visit that the elevation of the Light and Power manhole above the vault was in conflict with the current design. Further exploration of this conflict resulted in CDI needing to do further calculations to confirm that the Light and Power vault would support the loads of the stairway assemblies and foundation system per the design. This ultimately caused a slight redesign of the west stairway assembly. These conflicts caused CDI fabrication two weeks delay -to their schedule, which also caused missing the painting window that was scheduled. Missing the painting window was an additional week delay. This domino effect delayed delivery of the stairway components and the start of erection in the field. CEI and CD1 fast tracked this project as much as possible throughout, working with the delays and conflicts, and is justified in requesting an extended time count on this project.
