EXHIBIT 2 – QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
(1) Can a four-sided box be used as an approved alternate for the underpass
structure?
No, please bid according to the contract docs.
(2) Is there any way to itemize the Helical Piers for the 40’ bridge as its own bid item
so it can be measured and paid by the LF? This will help remedy any source of
contention down the road since the required depths are unknown to meet the
torque specs.
A new bid item will be added for the helical piers.
(3) Can the 12” caissons also be broken out as its own separate item just in case we
need to go deeper than expected?
A new bid item will be added for the 12” caissons.
(4) There doesn’t seem to be a toe wall associated with the box culvert. Is this
correct?
The toe wall is only required at the wingwalls, see detail D on sheet S04.
(5) It is understood that the city will be providing construction surveying. Will the city
also be doing the certified as-builts that is needed to meet the floodplain
requirements?
Yes, the City will be doing the as-built surveying to meet floodplain
requirements.
(6) To clarify, the bid item “Precast Concrete Underpass System” is just for the
material of the precast concrete and item “Precast Concrete Erection” includes the
setting of this system. Is this correct?
Correct, delivery of the materials should be considered incidental to
either bid item.
(7) Please clarify what is all in the bid item, “Concrete Class D (Wall).” Other than the
bridge abutments (which is way less than 67 CY), I don’t see any structural
concrete on the plans.
The Concrete Class D (Wall) quantity should be zero. The Reinforcing
Steel item quantity should also be zero. The wingwalls are included in the
Precast Concrete Underpass System item. Topping concrete within the
underpass will be included in the 10’ Concrete Bikeway item (discussed
below in #8). Concrete and reinforcing for bridge rail curbs should be
considered a part of the Bridge Rail Type 10 (Special) item.
Addendum 1 – 7664 Fossil Creek Trail Underpass at Trilby Road Page 4 of 12
(8) Are the bridge abutments incidental to the bridge bid items or they included in the
“Concrete Class D (Wall)?”
A new bid item will be added for the bridge abutments.
(9) In regards to the cast in place concrete topping inside the box, in what bid item is
this getting paid?
The concrete topping inside the box shall match the 10’ Concrete
Bikeway and that quantity is included with that item.
(10) On Sheet C13, there is a reference to a Bentonite Blanket. Where does this get
paid and what are the specs?
The Bentonite Blanket will not be required.
(11) Is a 404 permit required for this project?
Yes, the Owner has acquired a Nationwide Permit No. 14 for the project.
The CONTRACTOR is responsible for 100% compliance of all work
accomplished in accordance with the terms and conditions of the
nationwide permit.
(12) Does asphalt need Flyash?
No
(13) Will CDOT be reviewing and approving the bridge drawings?
No
