Addendum 1 -7617 Asbestos Abatement at Block 32 Page 2 of 2
EXHIBIT 1 – QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
1. In the ECO Thrift Building: With the exception of the floor tile mastic, is all the
sheetrock removal trace material only?
Response: The majority of the building has asbestos containing surfacing
materials (TS01 and TS02) on the drywall that must be removed with full
containment controls. In addition, it is assumed that there is overspray of this
material in and on electrical fixtures, structural components, floors, and non-
drywall walls. Typically the drywall is removed to facilitate the textured
surfacing removal. It is almost impossible to remove the textured surfacing
from the drywall substrate. In the locations where the textured surfacing is not
present, the drywall can be removed as a trace material. Worker protection
and engineering controls to prevent dust migration out of the work area are
still applicable.
2. Will we be able to have access for dumpsters in the dock area for roofing removal?
Police annex:
Reponse: Contractor supplied dumpsters will be allowed on the asphalt
parking lot around the small Kiosk building at 222 LaPorte.
3. Will the City be responsible for cordoning off sidewalks during work that affects foot
traffic adjacent the building (windows, roofing removal)?
Repsonse: The City will plan to bring in some temporary fencing to go around
these buildings to make them secure when abatement begins and leave the
fence in place for the deconstruction phase.
4. Will power, water and sanitary sewer be provided for the project?
Response: There is 110v Power, a hose bib for water and a single toilet in the
small Kiosk which the city will allow crews to use during the abatement. This
building will need to be cleaned up upon completion to look the way it did
when you started your work.
