RE: N. College Avenue — Conifer to Willox
Change Order Request #2
Dear Kyle,
INTERW GST CONSULTING GROUP
Please accept this request for additional services in the amount of $32,041 for the North College — Conifer to
Willox Improvement Project based on our previous discussions.
Summary
The Interwest Team will provide additional services as further described below to include design
modifications.
Additional Services
1. Design Modifications
Task I — Conifer SlorinDrain Oulfall: Interwest and AECOM evaluated design alternatives related to the
drainage outfall for the east side of N College Ave. In order to avoid crossing conflicts with the existing
Century Link Duct Bank, an alternative design along Conifer was designed in general conformance with
the future NECCO system. This system was coordinated with city Stormwater and a portion of the costs
for construction will be shared between departments. AECOM scope includes design and modeling of the
system. Interwest scope includes plan preparation/dra8ing and project management.
Interwest Labor Fee: S 3,112
AECOM Labor Fee: S 5,820
Interest Reimbursable Expenses: $ 100
AECOM Reimbursable Expenses: $ 984
Task Subtotal $10,016
Task 2 —CDOT Bid Items: Interest and AECOM updated the plans and specifications to follow CDOT
nomenclature as requested by the State representative at the FOR meeting. These changes required the bid
items to follow standard CDOT names and pay procedures unless a Special Provision was developed for
each bid item. This approach is inconsistent with previous local agency oversight projects by CDOT due
to a recent change in the LArepresentative.
Interwest Labor Feet S2,264
AECOM Labor Fee: $iM45
Task Subtotal $5,409
Task 3 — Waterline Design: Subsequent to the design of the storm sewer system at the Conifer and
Hickory intersection, it was determined that the existing City of Fort Collins 8-inch waterline should be
abandoned in place and a new line installed that would not conflict with the proposed stoma drainage
system. Interwest prepared a waterline plan and profile and coordinated the design with the appropriate
utility department staff. AECOM revised the previously designed storm system alignment to coincide with
the updated waterline.
Interwest Labor Fee; $1,368
AECOMLaborFee: $_1m
Task Subtotal $3,263
Task 4—Drainage Ou fall Modeling: The initial scope of work had assumed the storm drainage system
design and modeling for Phase 1 had included the west half of N College between Hickory and Willox. It
was later determined that this segment of the corridor had not been analyzed or included in the Phase 1
pipe network. Stormwater staff requested that AECOM model the entire system between Willox and the
Poudre River cattail, including the changes associated with the NECCO split flow system. This required
additional analysis, modeling and updates to the Drainage Report.
AECOM Labor Fee: $6,930
Task S — Raised Medlar Design. Subsequent to the State FOR meeting it was determined that the
previously designed double curb system would not be acceptable by CDOT along a roadway in their state
highway system. Alternative curb designs were analyzed and presented to CDOT for approval. The
accepted 12 inch battered barrier curb system was incorporated into the plans including all appropriate
plans, details, bid tabulations and specifications. In addition this task included the design of a dual median
underdrain system by AECOM as requested by CDOT to replace the previously designed center drain.
Interwest Labor Fee: $2,688
AECOM Labor Fee: $91E8
Taslt Subtotal $4,583
Task 6 — Dry Utility Designs: Interwest prepared detailed plans, profiles and cross sections for the
installation of the proposed Traffic Fiber and Xcel Energy gas line along the west side of N College. The
design of dry utility mains is not typical and was not anticipated in the initial scope of work; however, due
to the numerous utility crossings and constraints along the corridor, Interwest was requested to facilitate
the design on behalf of the city and the utility providers.
Interwest Labor Fee: $1,840
Change Order #2 Summary:
Interwest Total $11,372
AECOM Total $20.669
Change Order #2 Total $32,041
