PROJECT: McMurry Phase 2 Restoration Construction
Scope and Fee Modification
PROJECT NO. NAD-1965 (Bio No: 10910-05)
Dear Mr. Bachand,
Per your request, this letter proposal describes our scope of work and fee to conduct additional
construction activities needed to address high water impacts which occurred this spring. To provide extra
protection against floodplain scouring during large flow events and to provide additional stabilization while
vegetation has a chance to become established, we are proposing the installation of buried riprap in the
floodplain at the scour location. It will consist of buried Class 3 riprap approximately 5-feet wide and 3-feet
deep extending parallel to the river.
As reviewed with Rachel Steeves, Marsha Hilmes-Robinson, and Mark Kempton today in our plan -in -
hand field meeting, the scope of work will include:
• Raising the elevation of the bank at the Poudreometer and lowering the elevation of areas just
downstream;
• Adding overbank protection in the scour area south of the west pond (per the design detail and analysis
memorandum dated 7/17/2014) and transplanting willows on both sides of the riprap;
• Excavating the main deposition area in the west pond to 4973.5 (even with design water level) and using
the material to fill scour areas south of the west pond and at the headcut
• Regrading to shift the low point between the ponds to be south of the power pole and filling scour areas
with cobble, and;
• Extending boulder toe in the downstream reach and transplant willows.
We expect to begin the earthwork on July 24 or 25, depending on final approval from Marsha. Our fee to
conduct the additional work is $27,000.
Thank you for your consideration of this request and for the opportunity to continue to assist you on this
project. If you have any questions or concerns, please call Mike Lighthiser or Vince Sortman at (303) 477-
0660.
Sincerely,
Claudia Browne, Project Manager
