Below is the statute regarding contracting with former employees. Since Bid 7551 is competitive and the employees left
the City more than six months they meet the criteria to participate.
S. 7.3 Contracts with Former Employees
Pursuant to the provisions of Section 24-18-201, Colorado Revised Statutes, a
former employee may not, within six months following termination of employment,
contract with or be employed by an employer who contracts with the City
involving matters with which the former employee was directly involved during
employment. This statutory restriction does not apply to:
1. contracts awarded to the lowest responsible bidder based on competitive
bidding procedures; or
2. a contract with a former employee if, because of geographic restrictions,
the City could not otherwise reasonably afford itself of the subject of the
contract. Please see the definitions under the state statute for a further
explanation of this exception.
