Is work on this project (specifically dome installation and AV work) subject to labor union membership and/or related prevailing wage laws? No, it is not. 2. I understand the goal is to have the project fully funded by the end of 2012 and that Phase 1 (dome screen) can proceed immediately after bid award. Is there an overall project timeline in place that we could refer to for anticipated award, start, and end dates for Phase 1 and Phase 2? We do not have a firm timeline for phase 2 and will not have one until the funding picture is clearer. For now, all we can say for sure is that we will be ready to go with phase 1 as soon as the contract is awarded. 3. The theater design seems to be heavily influenced by specific video projector models, in particular how the dome and kneewall meet. The drawings seem to indicate very limited access to at least one of the video projectors (i.e. appears to be from the theater interior via a flip-up panel), which is problematic for installation and maintenance. This could also severely restrict the type of video projector that can be installed in such a space, which is a major concern for projector upgrades 5 or 10 years following the initial installation. Is it possible to implement minor modifications to the theater design to improve long-term video projector maintenance and operating costs? Minor modifications to the theater design are possible if the contractor includes those modification costs in the bid. 4. Will proposals be accepted via e-mail or only in hard copy on February 23? Email or Hard copy is ok. 5. Can you send us DWG files for the building, dome areas, and computer room? DWG files are available for the awarded contractor. 6. Can you confirm whether seats to be included in the pricing? If so, which phase? Please refer to Addendum 2. 7. Can you confirm whether the carpet is to be including in the pricing? If so, which phase? Please refer to Addendum 2. 8. Will scaffolding be provided by the Museum for the dome installation? Please refer to Addendum 2. Addendum 3 – 7334 Digital Dome Theater for Discovery Museum Page 3 of 3 9. Are UPS units to be included in the bid responses? Yes. 10. Who is providing the Control desk? Who is finishing the console area and closing off that hole behind the console? Please refer to Addendum 2. 11. Is the false wall shown in the drawings on the front 2/3 of the dome part of the City’s financial responsibility? Who will build that wall and who is responsible for the cost? Please refer to Addendum 2. 12. Can I ask what you are forecasting for annual attendance for the museum and for the theater? What about a year after opening? Projected annual visitation for the museum is 70,000 -100,000 visitors a year, first year and beyond. 13. For the theater, can you break down school group attendance vs general public? School groups make up about ½ of our annual visitation. Of that, about 75% of school groups book programs, so the theater shows have the potential for ~30,000 students a year.
