It was good to hear from you, it has been a little while. We have read your response to our proposed price increase for 2014. We evaluated our pricing prior to submittal and stand behind our quote. We understand your analysis of increase in percentages. MMM has experienced increased costs in our..materials, labor, and other costs that have been driven by supply and demand. In regards to your inquiry pertaining to Holcim, we do not purchase product from them, therefore we didn't refer to them in our proposal. We have appreciated the opportunity to work with the City of Fort Collins over the past several years and look forward to the possibility of working with the City in the future. We understand if the City will need to put this contract out for bid as we can't accept a 5% increase. I will follow up with you early next week. We are hoping for your continued support next year. As we head into the New Year, we are encouraged that the construction economy remains robust with nearly all the indicators pointing upwards. We have seen an increase in residential building permits and new starts, as well as increases in commercial and infrastructure construction activity. Cleary we am well on our way out of the extended construction recession, but volumes are not enough to keep up with the growing Inflationary pressures arising from increasing electricity, lbel, maintenance and labor and environmental compliance costs. At this time we would like to inform you that our bulk cement prices out of our Lyons plant and Florence terminal in Colorado will increase by $8 per ton effective January 1, 2014, followed by an S8 per ton Increase effective July 1, 2014. All of our cement plants will treed to come into compliance by September of 2015 with the new National Emissions Standards for Hazardous Atr Pollutants (NP,SHAP). These standards were arrived at after a thorough multi year review by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as they weighed the societal benefit of the increased regulations to the cost of implementing them. Consequently, we will be required to invest considerable capital and inaa significant ongoing operating costs to achieve the emissions and other limits required by NESHAP. Given the federal nature of this new standard you will notice your invoices already includes an environmental surcharge that currently has a $0 charge on it At a date yet to be determined between 2014 and September 2015, we will start charging an environmental surcharge within the range of $3.50 - $5.25/ST to cover the capital and ongoing operating costs to provide the societal benefits provided by these increased regulations. We will notify you at least 180 days prior to this fee coming into effect We felt it is important to give you this notice so that you may be fully prepared for next year during your planning and bidding processes. As always, all sales are subject to our Standard Terms and Conditions, and price protection will not be granted.
