Arthur Ditch CBC Replacement at Myrtle Street
Additional Design Services
Additional Work Overview
Several changes have been requested by the City and new work items will be required that were not part
of the original scope and fee for the project. Following is a rough breakdown of the revisions and
additional work that has been requested.
Task I —Project Coordination/Data Collection
1.1 Project Coordination/Additional Data Collection
Additional survey information has been provided on several occasions, requiring additional effort to
incorporate the information into the existing surlacc and topo files, and adjust the design accordingly.
Additional project management and coordination effort is required due to the increased work and
requested revisions.
Task 2 —Additional Preliminary Design
2.1 Sherwood Sinkhole Preliminary Design. The northeast corner of the intersection of Myrtic and
Sherwood experienced some failure after the project was initiated. This involved additional curb and
gutter, new sidewalk ramps, and pavement repair. These additional items were included in the
preliminary submittal, and repair be addressed further during final design.
2.2 Additional Submittal with Aerial for Landowner Meetings. To aid in the discussions with the
adjacent landowners, new roadway sheets were provided to the City. These new sheets included a
reduced amount of technical information, added removal information, and included some design revisions
resulting from the comment resolution meeting. The topo file was honed off, and the provided aerial
photo was attached to the new sheets and plotting adjustments were required as a result of the aerial
imagery. This was done for both the Mountain Avenue as well as the Myrtle Street roadway plans.
2.3A(Iditional Preliminary Quantities and Estimates. AECOM developed preliminary quantity
calculations and a cost estimate for the Mountain Avenue as well as the Myrtle Street projects which were
not included in the original scope. This effort will be combined with our initial task order efforts and no
additional hours will be required.
2.4 South Sidewalk Revision, Curb & Gutter Shift, Resubtnittal. Following the meeting with
landowners, AECOM was directed to reduce the roadway width by shifting the south curb and gutter, and
revise the sidewalk location from detached to be connected to the revised top of curb. The revised
roadway sheets were submitted for use for utility conflict identification and relocation efforts.
2.5 Preliminary Driveway Redesign: for Curb & Gutter Shift. Preliminary redesign of the southern
driveways was required due to the curb and gutter shift and the revised location of the sidewalk prior to
the submittal for the utility work.

2.6 Relocated Catch Basins and New Storm Drain Manhole Preliminary Design. Preliminary design
was required for two new catch basins and a new manhole and approximately 30' of existing storm drain
replacement. The new catch basins replace the existing catch basins at the corner of Sherwood and
Myrtle due to the Sherwood sinkhole and associated repairs, and the existing catch basin in the relocated
southern curb and gutter line near Meldrum. The existing storm drain manhole near the existing box
culvert was in conflict with the new wider box, and the City has requested a new manhole be placed on
the other side of the new box, and the existing storm drain replaced under the new box. None of this
work was anticipated or included in the original scope of work.
Task 3 —Additional Final Design
AF,COM will be required to perform additional final design services that were not anticipated or included
in the original project scope. The following sections describe the anticipated level of additional effort
required.
3.1 Roadway Plans. The following additional activities and revisions will be performed:
3.1.1 Removal/Reset Plans
Removal and reset plans will be need to be revised and updated due to the shifted curb and gutter,
additional work at Sherwood, the revised sidewalk location, and additional items of work.
3.1.2 Roadway Plans and Profiles
The roadway profile will need to be adjusted so the bottom of the new attached sidewalk is
essentially at grade near the large tree locations, while still allowing off -site water to be caught in
the new curb and gutter. The project limits will need to be extended to the east, and the revised
profile will have significant impacts on the previously design driveways.. Revisions to the
centerline profile will impact the existing grading on both the north and south side of Myrtle.
3.1.3 New Drainage Sheets
New drainage detail sheets will be required for the two catch basins impacted by the revised
design, and removing the storm drain manhole and placing a new manhole west of the Arthur
Ditch with approximately 30' of new storm drain will be shown in the plans. Storm drain and
catch basin capacity will not be checked; the nearest size of similar catch basin as the existing
will be utilized, and the existing pipe inverts will be matched.
3.1.4Intersection Detail Revisions /Sherwood Sinkhole
Detail sheets will be included to address the repair of the Sherwood and Myrtle intersection. This
will involve new sidewalk curb ramps, sidewalks, revised curb radii to meet current standards,
and removal and replacement of unsuitable material and repaving the disturbed area based on
recommendations from CTL. Utility relocation or repair plans are not included.
3.2 Grading Plans
3.2.1 Grading Platys Revisions /Additions
Grading plans will need to be revised and supplemented for the curb and gutter relocation and the
profile revisions.
3.2.2 Sidewalk Redesign and Vertical Adjustment for Curb & Cutter Shift and Profile Revision
Page 2
Scope of Service, Additional Work

The preliminary grading plans and details were based on an independent sidewalk. Placing the
sidewalk adjacent to the revised curb and gutter will require extensive grading revisions,
recalculation of grades for ADA compliance, and significant rework and back -checking of the
detailed grading information in the plans.
3.2.3 Redesign at Alley for Curb & Gutter Shift and Proftle Revision
The alley approaching Myrtle Street from the south between Sherwood and Meldrum is very flat.
The revised curb & gutter location will make the alley grades even flatter and any profile
revisions may require significant reconstruction of the alley to promote drainage. This may
require additional survey, and significant effort may be required to ensure the existing drainage
patterns are maintained and additional ponding avoided.
3.3 Hydrology and Hydraulics for Curb ct Glitter /Drivewav Design. Raising the profile of Myrtle
Street has caused several of the proposed driveways to be significantly higher than the existing condition.
All the existing driveways currently allow offsite drainage into the existing curb and gutter while
preventing flow out of the gutter on to the private property. The required roadway profile has caused
several of the new driveways to be higher than the adjacent ground, and pavement drainage may no
longer be contained by the driveway allowing the water to outlet on to the private property. AECOM will
analyze the depdr of water at each driveway location based on a design storm intensity provided by the
City. The driveways will have the appropriate vertical revisions made to maintain the design storm in the
gutter.
3.4 New Parking Design & Striping Details. Reducing the roadway with on Myrtle Street will reduce the
parking length on the south curb line to be less than the desired criteria for the standard vehicle and for
most parking configurations for compact vehicles. If desired, AECOM can provide striping details to
promote efficient parking along Myrtle Street.
