Project Understanding Since the completion of planting, the Fort Collins Area has received very little rainfall while also experiencing periods of above -average heat. The last significant rainfall occurred on May 291h. Since then the weather station on the CSU campus has recorded only 0.06 inches of rain. As a result, the wetland mitigation site is experiencing drier conditions than expected. Temporary irrigation is needed to help the new plants establish during these dry conditions. Scope Biohabitats proposes to provide temporary irrigation for the site using two 500 gallon tanks on a flat-bed trailer. The tanks will be filled on site by pumping water from Fossil Creek reservoir. Water from the tanks will then be sprayed onto the side slopes and wetland areas until proper soil moisture has been reached. We estimate it will take approximately 8 hours to irrigate the entire site and the tanks will need to be refilled several times. The tanks will be mobilized and demobilized for each irrigation session. We estimate a maximum of one irrigation session per week for the next three months. We anticipate that weekly irrigation will not be necessary based on natural precipitation. The need for temporary irrigation will be decided each week based on soil moisture conditions and the probability of precipitation at the site.
