Subject: Fee Estimate for Geotechnical Services
Fossil Creek Trail BNSF Underpass
Fort Collins, Colorado
Proposal No. FC-12-0369C
CTLITHOMPSON
CTLIThompson, Inc. is pleased to provide this fee estimate for geotechnical
consultation services for the proposed construction at the subject location. We
understand the new construction will consist of an underpass below the Burlington
Northern Santa Fe Railroad (BNSF) for the Fossil Creek Trail. The underpass may be
constructed as a bridge, concrete box culvert or similar tunnel -structure.
We propose drilling two borings on top of the existing embankment, conducting
laboratory testing, and providing you with foundation recommendations and construction
criteria for the proposed construction. The boring will be extended to depths of 25 to 30
feet or to practical auger refusal. Samples will be collected at 21/2 to 5-foot intervals.
Testing will likely include moisture content, dry density, Atterberg limits, water-soluble
sulfate, and particle -size analysis tests.
We estimate our fee for this investigation will not exceed $7,500. Our fee
estimate is based on our unit rates from our existing contract with the City of Fort Collins
(2012). We understand the fee estimate we are providing will be used for budgetary
purposes and to issue a work order.
Our fee is based on access to the site with a track -mounted drill rig. We
understand we will be working, under the City of Fort Collin's access permit.
CTLIThompson will acquire any necessary badges to work in the BNSF right-of-way.
We can begin work immediately following your notice to proceed and anticipate
completion within three to five weeks.
