RE: Proposal for Initial Microbial Assessment .
212 LaPorte Avenue, Fort Collins, Colorado
Dear Bruce:
Walsh Environmental Scientists and Engineers, LLC (WALSH) is pleased to submit this
proposal to conduct an initial microbial assessment at 212 LaPorte Avenue in Fort Collins,
Colorado. It is our understanding that a musty odor was noticed in the crawlspace during a
inspection by a potential tenant. The objective of the project is to determine if elevated levels of
microbial components are present in the crawlspace. WALSH proposes to conduct the following
scope of work based on our discussion:
1. A visual evaluation will be performed to evaluate the structure for evidence of water
damage and visible microbial growth. Arrangements should be made to provide access to
accessible spaces and other potentially impacted areas during the site visit: We will only
assess the areas that are safely accessible.
2. Ambient air samples will be collected to identify the total fungal spore count present in
the air. Up to three (3) air samples will be collected; one (1) sample will be collected
from the complaint area, one (1) from a non -complaint area, and one (1) outdoors. The
air samples will be submitted under chain of :custody to an accredited laboratory for
identification and quantitative analysis for fungi and other allergens. A standard
laboratory tumaround of five (5) days will be requested.
3. Following receipt of the laboratory results, WALSH will prepare a brief letter report to
summarize the results of the assessment. An electronic (Adobe PDF) version of the
report will be submitted.
It should also be noted that currently no standards have been established to determine "safe" and
"unsafe" levels of microbial contamination. The sampling results will only indicate if microbial
contamination is present and will be compared to the types and amounts found in the outdoor
control sample and the non -complaint area sample. Any suspected health effects may need to be
evaluated by a qualified physician.

Our estimated fees to complete the scope of work described above are $1,275 as summarized in
the attached spreadsheet. WALSH can imitate the field activities at a mutually agreeable time
with the city. The final letter report will be completed within approximately one week following
receipt of the analytical results.
We appreciate the opportunity to submit this proposal. Please call (970) 223-5655 if you have
any questions.
