Because construction bonds follow and become a part of the contract agreement, any changes to the contract also apply to the bonds. The bonds will remain in full force and effect through the entire project until acceptance by the owner. Because there is no change in contract price and the completion time even with extension is still under a 24 month time period, the is no premium adjustment applicable. Unless the project owner has specifically asked for surety acknowledgment of the time extension, we are okay in doing nothing on this bond. If you have other questions, please let us know. Thanks. I've attached the bonds that you issued for us originally — do we need a continuation certificate for this? The contract amount did not change, so I'm not sure a Bond Rider is appropriate. But you would know more than I! Please let me know if you need anything else — the Change Order is the only new document I've received.
