Please provide the current incumbent name. The City currently has no City-wide contract for this service. A few departments currently use a telephonic interpretation service on an ad hoc basis. 2. Please provide the current incumbent rates. This information is not available. 3. Please provide the anticipated volume or historical data for translation. This information is not available. 4. Please provide the anticipated volume or historical data for telephonic interpreting. This is the City’s first effort at centralizing telephonic interpreting. Therefore, this information is not available. 5. Please provide the anticipated volume or historical data for language testing services (assessing the language translation proficiency of translators). This information is not available. 6. Please provide the lead time for scheduling language testing services. Please see answer to number 5 above. 7. Can you be more specific about your language testing requirements? Do you require on site testing? Are we testing translators, who translate written documents, or oral interpreters, who translate spoken conversations in real time? The City would like to utilize language testing requirements that are consistent with those used by other similarly situated municipalities. The City will need to test the language ability of those who translate written documents as well as oral interpreters. 8. Please advise if this solicitation is multi or single vendor award. It will be awarded to one vendor assuming the vendor has all the capabilities needed. 9. Please advise the average length of document translations. The City anticipates that approximately 50% of the documents will be fewer than five pages in length. The City does not have additional information about the average length of document translations. 10. Please advise if you require any certifications for linguists. Yes, please provide as much information as possible about any certifications or qualifications about the linguists your company would use to provide the necessary Addendum 1 – 7451 Translation Services Page 3 of 3 services. Also, please provide information about any continuing education received by the linguists your company would use to provide the necessary services. 11. Please advise the anticipated contract duration. One year with 4 one year renewals for a total potential term of 5 years. 12. What are the most common languages called upon for interpretation, translation, and assessment? While Spanish is the most common language called upon for interpretation, translation, and assessment, the City anticipates that there will also be a need for these services in Asian languages, especially Korean, as well as others. 13. Is American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation for the Deaf and Hearing Impaired people included as part of the services request? If so, can this be accomplished through Video Remote Interpretation? Not at this time. 14. Is there a minimum response time for telephonic interpretation? This information is not available but the City requires that telephonic interpretation response times are consistent with industry standard for a municipality with police, utilities and bus services. 15. What turnaround times are expected for document translations? Within a few days of the service provider’s receipt of the request. 16. Is this RFP open to out of state vendors? Yes 17. Is this a multiple vendor award contract? We would prefer to award to one vendor. But we will consider multiple award if necessary to get the services required. 18. Is desktop publishing a requirement for this contract? No 19. Must interested vendors bid on all services or is the option to bid on 1 or more permitted? We would prefer to award to a single vendor but are open to response to part of the required service. 20. Is there an MBE requirement under this contract? No but we encourage proposals from the entire vendor community.
