RE: 1992 Southwest Elementary School Offsite Improvements
Dear Ted:
We have received direction from the Administration regarding the Transportation
Department's letter to you (5/3/91) recommending offsite improvements. Both
the Superintendent and Jim Law, Executive Director of Administrative Services,
have reviewed the recommendations and have directed us as follows:
1. The Hinsdale Drive extension will not be realigned. It is not clear how
the recommended realignment will increase safety. Site lines may
even be reduced by introducing greater curvature.
2. The traffic circle recommended would be in a cul-de-sac that is off the
District's property and the District does not feel obligated to develop
this property. Most sub -divisions around town do not have special entries
for aesthetics, this request does not seem to be based on a community
standard.
3. The District will have its engineer design the turn lanes recommended
at the intersection of the Hinsdale Drive extension and Harmony Road
and include the turn lanes in an adendum to the construction documents
in the form of an alternate. The issue of responsibility for funding the
construction of turn lanes has yet to be resolved. We expect resolution of
this issue will occur on an administrative level between the District and
the City.

your review process for this project.
