Sole Source Justification for Procurement of the Acoustical Wall Panels for the Digital Dome @ FCMOD
Acoustics and Interiors Inc. was chosen for this procurement because of past experience with them in
installing fabric covered acoustical panels at the Police Services Facility. A&I was chosen also because they are
local and could spend the time in performing actual exceptionally detailed measurements of the curved walls
and soffits that require acoustical panels. Additionally, these measurements had to be done in a very short
timeframe while the knee wall was being constructed in the Digital Dome by Hensel Phelps Construction
Company before September 6`", so the long lead fabric could be ordered. Additional precise measurements
had to be taken after the knee wall and soffits were complete so that the curved panels themselves could be
ordered so they could be on site for installation October 15-19, 2012. This installation date is critical to the
Grand Opening date of the Museum of Discovery on November 10, 2012. The Proposal had to come after all
of the precise measurements so A&I could get a final quote from Wall Tech for production of the panels.
Accordingly, request your approval of this request for sole source procurement of these acoustical wall panels
from Acoustics and Interiors Inc.
