The purpose of this memo is to request justification for choosing the 2nd low bid source for the replacement of the boiler at City Hall.. Three quotes were received (see attached) and the apparent low quote was from C.D. Jones Co. supplying Raypak Xfyre boiler. Upon further scrutiny, the building automation interface they submitted will not communicate BacNet over IP protocol as required to tie into our Johnson Controls BAS system. Currently this boiler only has an option to communicate BacNet MS/TP protocol which will not work in this case. The next lowest quote from McNevin Co. provides a boiler and communication interface that will meet the BacNet over IP criteria. I would like to go ahead and send a PO to McNevin Co. for $18,165.00 to perchance the Camus boiler and controls submitted. Let me know if you require further information on this request.
