Representative: Signature: Title: Date: Address Phone: Email: Total Base Bid items Addendum 2 – 7332 MAX BRT Project Page 14 of 22 EXHIBIT 2 – QUESTIONS & ANSWERS Question Response Sheet Number 44, shows the summary of Concrete items. The quantity of aggregate base course class 6 shows 3310 Tons. This is obviously a misprint as it is the same quantity as the adjacent column, concrete sidewalk. We total the column to be 197 tons, not the 3310 tons shown in the summary. Total for 304-06000 ABC Class 6 in the Guideway column has been revised to 4,076 tons. The other quantities shown in the tabulation sheet indicate the estimated quantity under the concrete slab as is for information only since this is to be paid for in the 601-031000 Concrete Slab (Special). Summary of Approximate quantities(Sheet 26) and the Bid Schedule has been revised accordingly. All of the base shown on these summary of concrete sheets is shown under the Concrete Slab (Special) for the stations, with the exception of the 25 tons of base from 22+15 to 22+89 (Ditch Access). The specifications call the base under the concrete slab (special) to be incidental to that item, so they do not total to the aggregate base class 6 bid total. How is the 25 tons of base for the ditch access to be paid? Total for 304-06000 ABC Class 6 has been revised to 25 tons which reflects the quantity for the Ditch Access south side of Harmony. The typical sections shown on sheets 18 and 19 for Mason Downtown detail Class 1 Structural fill under the curb and asphalt patching. Sheet 48, Summary of Surfacing Quantiites, calls out Aggregate base course class 6. Which is correct? Sheet 48 has been modified to differentiate the quantities that is being done by BNSF forces and the contractor. The ABC Class 6 item has been changed to Structural Backfill (Class I) Sheet 48, Summary of Surfacing Quantities details 3,240 Tons of Aggregate Base Class 6 from 82+40 to 84+90. Where is this base called out on the plans? Refer to plan sheet 202 - 204 for Lake Street parking lot details. Also note station range has been revised. Sheet 48, Summary of Quantities bubbles work by BNSF forces. For the HMA (Patching)(Asphalt), all of the work by BNSF forces is in the totals. Who is performing this work? The work by BNSF forces has been removed from the totals. Addendum 2 – 7332 MAX BRT Project Page 15 of 22 Sheet 48 has a total of HMA Patching (Asphalt) of 14000 SY and Sheet 47 has a total of 2385 SY. These add to 16,385 SY but the bid tab shows a total of 19,754. Where is the difference located? Sheet 48 was revised as part of previous Addendum to indicate locations of HMA patching by BNSF RR forces and that patching is not to be done by the BRT Contractor. Bid tab should now indicate 19,793 SY total for 403-00721 HMA (Patching) (Asphalt). Refer to Summary of Approximate Quantities in plan sheet 26 for break out. Refer to General Note 22, Sheet 4 of plan set as an approximate amount of HMA (Patching) (Asphalt) has been added for work on gg McClelland and is included in total. 1.4 Structural Analysis Criteria for Pole Selection. ASSHTO LTS-4-M. This specific requirement adds significant cost to the pole. Approximately 30% to 35% additional per pole from other AASHTO criteria. We typically see a 100MPH wind loading with a 1.3 gust factor which would eliminate the added expense of LTS-4-M criteria. AASHTO LTS-4-M is the standard requirement in the MasterSpec format and will stay in the specifications. Section 16560 – Exterior Lighting: 1.7 Delivery, Storage and Handling. ASTM B 660 requirement adds approximately $500.00 per pole. Each pole must be individually created for shipment. ASTM B 660 is a standard exterior lighting requirement and will remain in the specification. Section 16560 – Exterior Lighting: 1.8 Warranty. Warranty periods beyond manufactures standards can add approximately 45% per luminaires and Poles. Standard Luminaire and pole warranty is 1 year. The warranty requirements will be reduced to 1 year in the specification as part of this addendum 3. Section 16560 – Exterior Lighting: 2.6 Steel Poles L. – 2. Interior surfaces of pole. This requirement will add approximately 45% per pole. This is often use in extreme humidity environments or coastal areas. This is an untypical requirement for the front range of Colorado. The interior surface of the steel poles need to be coated therefore this requirement will remain in the specification. Addendum 2 – 7332 MAX BRT Project Page 16 of 22 Section 16560 – Exterior Lighting: Request for clarification on the shape of the pole and the height of the pole Type B2. The specification 2.6 Steel Poles indicates the Shape to be Round, Straight The detail indicates the shape to be Round, Tapered and 30’ in height. The fixture schedule indicates the pole height to be 25’ with no mention of shape. Can you clarify the pole height and shape for Type B2 and confirm the shape of the Pole for Types B & BB? The pole heights are to match the lighting fixture schedule. The specification has been changed to reflect a "Round, Tapered" pole and the pole base detail drawing has been changed to reflect an "up to 30'" pole as part of this addendum 3. Regarding “202-00009” tree trimming, the spec calls that “City and CSU will mark trees for trimming prior to start of work”. Please clarify the scope in terms of quantities. Trees that require pruning will be limited to those that need clearance provided for construction equipment or activities, or transit operation of the bus guideway and platforms. Retaining wall #4 shows shoring (Area #6) which is not on the bid form. Please clarify. Summary of Approximate Quantities (Sheet 25) and the Bid Schedule has been updated to include 208-01786 (Shoring Area 6) Please clarify the scope of the slope and ditch paving. Plans call for it at station 101+13 to 102 +92 but it is not shown. Need to clarify if the work is part of the ditches starting at the harmony station. Other areas shown sherwood lateral extension and the larimer canal. See sheet 208 Station Area Plan - Swallow Stop provides details for the concrete slope and ditch paving. The details of the McClelland box culvert (sheets 530 - 535) do not indicate if end walls are required at the ends of the interior concrete-lined ditch. Is the intent to have the dirt under the exterior concrete-lined ditch placed against the expanded polystyrene. If end walls are desired, please provide the necessary details. It is the intent to have the dirt placed directly against the expanded polystyrene. Walls are not required to separate the materials. Are both the enhanced and the enhanced patterned crosswalks to be carried in Line item 41201001 10” special pavement? Yes - all concrete crosswalks are paid for in item 412-01001 Concrete Pavement (10 Inch) (Special) Under which line item on the bid form is Plaza paving to be included. All the paving at the University Plaza (Sheets 92-94) shall be paid for under 403-00721 HMA (Patching)(Asphalt) - refer to sheet 47 Summary of Surfacing Quantities Addendum 2 – 7332 MAX BRT Project Page 17 of 22 Are all reset telephone pedestals “by others” as shown on sheet 160 and similar? Yes Under which line item on the bid form should “adjust monitoring well” be included? These adjustments shall be incidental to 402-01050 Concrete Pavement (10.5") Under which line item on the bid form should “relocate temp bleacher stands” be included? If the owner requires the contractor to relocate the temporary bleachers, the work will be paid for under 203 Equipment and Labor items identified on General Note 45 Sheet 5. Under which line item on the bid form should “adjust sidewalk” be included. This work on sheet 167 shall be considered incidental to item 608- 00006 Concrete Sidewalk (6 inch) Please explain what adjust sidewalk chase entails. Is it a remove and replace? A portion of this chase will be removed during construction. The remaining chase may need to be modified to maintain positive drainage. This work shall be considered incidental to item 608-00006 Concrete Sidewalk (6 inch) Under which line item on the bid form should “adjust driveway” be included. This work on sheet 167 shall be considered incidental to item 608- 00006 Concrete Sidewalk (6 inch) Under which line item on the bid form should “adjust traffic control box” be included. Callout has been deleted as part of this addendum 3. Under which line item on the bid form should “modify curb, brick pavers and landscaping and modify steps” be included. Modify curb has been removed from the note as curb work is quantified in item 609-71000 Curb (Special). Modification of the brick pavers, landscaping and steps on sheet 178 shall be considered incidental to item 608-00006 Concrete Sidewalk (6 inch) Under which line item on the bid form should “type II delineators” be included. Work to be done by City of Fort Collins forces. Item Added to Sheet 32 in Traffic Signal And Sign Work by City Forces section. Are the posts for delineators flexible or steel? Flexible Please confirm that tining is required. Yes, tining is required. Addendum 2 – 7332 MAX BRT Project Page 18 of 22 Do we need to carry the CABI and Industrial Hygienist under the LS for 202-00001. Who provides the inspections prior to clearance? A building inspection has been completed and the hazardous material report has been provided as part of the original bid documents. The bidding contractor shall provide for all aspects of the asbestos abatement and environmental conditions in accordance with federal, state (Colorado), and local regulations. All abatement clearance activities (visual inspection and final air clearance by third-party firm) shall be included into the bid item Transite Pipe removal (under relocation of utilities). If more asbestos is found how would it be paid. The bid tabs do not consider unforeseen conditions. Should unforeseen conditions considering hazardous materials arise, they will be addressed on an case by case basis. Has funding been secured for the MAX BRT project, and ancillary projects The City has appropriated the funding required for the total project. Section 01020 Paragraph 1.4 Schedule Definitions and Content calls for a “Contract Price Schedule” with the original bid. The schedule is not listed as a requirement under the ITB paragraph 13.5. Please confirm a Contract Price Schedule is not required with the original bid, and a detailed P6 schedule will be generated after award. Contract Price Schedule is not required with the original bid but is required after award. Section 01040 Paragraph 1.1 C identifies inspection services to be paid by the contractor for weekend work. Please identify how many inspectors will be required. This varies greatly depending on the scope of the work being performed, and will have to be evaluated on a case by case basis. If potentially hazardous materials are identified per the HASP, who bears the cost for testing these soils or groundwater The contractor is responsible to plan for the safety of the workers and environment due to the presence of PCBs during the removal of the building and soil work. If soil removal is included while removing the building, the contractor is required to deal with testing for the disposal of the soil. If hazardous soils or ground water is encountered that impact construction, please confirm that treatment or removals of these materials will be paid as a differing site condition The bid tabs do not consider unforeseen conditions. Should unforeseen conditions considering hazardous materials not identified in any provided project documents arise, they will be addressed on an case by case basis. Addendum 2 – 7332 MAX BRT Project Page 19 of 22 Traffic control plans require approval. Can the contractor assume intersection work on major arteries can occur during normal working hours, with single lane closures in each direction? Yes - Normal working hours are from 8:30am to 3:30pm. Should special circumstances occur regarding project related traffic control activities, the City will work with the contractor to the extents permitable. Mason Downtown section detail sheet No. 19 identifies an Add Alternate Underdrain. Where is this alternate rate to be included? Bid Schedule for the underdrain Add Alternate has been added to excel spreadsheet. Testing to be covered by the owner per section 13.4 of the contract, however modified spec states testing requirement for scopes such as irrigation, electrical, site utilities, earthwork, etc. Please clarify what testing scope that general contractor should include. Section 13.4 has been modified to indicate that all testing will be done by the City unless otherwise indicated in construction documents. The lake street parking lot shown on sheets 203 and 204 calls out hot mix asphalt. There is no section provided for this parking lot and it also does not appear on the summary of quantities. Please advise Sheets will be revised to clarify. Refer to asphalt patching details in the typical sections. What rate of seed is going to be used on the Max BRT project. The pls/ Lbs they said didnt tell them. Rate Table on Sheet 372 has been revised to indicate proper rates. Addendum 2 Question 4 states the 11,077 SY of asphalt patching is for the lake street parking lot. On Sheets R153 and R154 the asphalt paving is called out as Hot Mix Asphalt, not patching. It appears paving for the parking lot is incorrectly shown in the patching tabulation. This will skew the unit price for patching. Notes on sheet R153 and R154 have been changed to HMA Patching (Asphalt) Sheet No. 32 Summary of Approximate Quantities updated in Addendum #2 has an ad alternate for downtown rail work. The bid form does not have a downtown add alternate. Which is correct? Add Alt for Downtown Railwork has been added to Bid form. Addendum 2 – 7332 MAX BRT Project Page 20 of 22 The downtown section of asphalt removal is shown by BNSF forces on sheets 39 and 40. Saw-cutting asphalt is incidental to asphalt removal. Is the asphalt saw-cutting required for the west gutter and asphalt patching shown on sheets 108 through 119 performed by BNSF as well? The asphalt saw-cutting at west curb is being done by BNSF forces. The asphalt patching for the west curb is measured and paid for under HMA Patching (Asphalt). Will on site excavated materials be allowed to be placed in the top 3 feet of subgrade? If this is not allowed it will significantly alter the earthwork summary shown on sheet 49. On-site material should be adequate for meeting the requirements for the top 3 feet of subgrade. will the City reconsider the arch pipe on the BRT project. I know this was addressed in the last addendum however, there is not a supplier in the state who manufactures this material. Elliptical pipe may be substituted on the conditions; it meets the requirements of adequate cover for revegitation, the work can be completed within the provided construction easement, the pipe can fit into the proposed structures and the volume of the existing pond does not change. The revised bid tab is a bit confusing. For example I see that line item 603-01605 (60" RCP) has a quantity of 0, but sheet 327 of the plans shows a fair amount of 60" RCP. Please clarify. The quantity for the 603-01605 (60" RCP) in located in the MSO OUTFALL F1 BASE tab of the Bid schedule. These quantities are for the work required to construct line F1-1. It is automatically included in the base bid at the bottom of the Bid Schedule tab. Please clarfiy where the 300 CY of structure ex and 10,763 CY of class 1 structure backfill as shown on the summary of approx quantities (sheet Q01) for the Guideway. Where are these quantities are coming from. 300 CY of Structure Excavation was removed from SAQ Sheet Q01 and total on Bid Schedule. 10,763 CY or Class 1 Structure Backfill was revised to703 CY on Sheet Q01 and the total was revised on the Bid Schedule. Can Elliptical RCP be substituted for the arch RCP. Elliptical pipe is readily available and will be considerably less expensive and can be furnished in sizes very similar to the sizes on the plans. Why are you requiring arch pipe in this location Elliptical pipe may be substituted on the conditions; it meets the requirements of adequate cover for revegitation, the work can be completed within the provided construction easement, the pipe can fit into the proposed structures and the volume of the existing pond does not change. Addendum 2 – 7332 MAX BRT Project Page 21 of 22 In regards to the exterior windscreen panels provided by Artist and installed by Contractor located at station platforms and listed in spec section 08 80 00 1.2 A.2. Section 08 80 00 3.3 A & B, indicates coordination of installation only and that these panels shall be provided by Artists and furnished by the City. Please confirm installation only should be included in station pricing. Contractor is responsible for only installing windscreen panels that are provided by the artist. Conractor is responsible for furnishing and installing windscreen panels not provided by the artist. The bid item 206 for mechanical reinforcement of soil behind the bridge abutments per the CDOT standards does not include the class 1 structural backfill material, therefore it appears that the class 1 structure backfill quantity is missing from the bridge abutments on the summary of quantities sheet B2, and the bid form. 346 CY of Structural Backfill (Class 1) has been added to the Mail Creek Bridge on sheets 24 and B2 and the Bid Schedule has been adjusted. On sheet W39, retaining wall 3 cross section shows 18” of class 6 or 7 road base and a mat of geogrid, where is this work to be paid? Item 304-06000 Aggregate Base Course Class 6 has been added to the wall tabulation sheet (Sheet W2). The note on Sheet W39 has been modified to indicate that ABC Class 6 shall be used. Summary of Approximate Quantites Sheet 26 has been modified and the Bid Schedule has been updated.
