Subject: Structural Design of Pedestrian Underpass
Lind Property at County Road 11
Fort Collins, Colorado
Proposal Number: FC-11-0379 P2
Mr. Laken,
CTLIThompson is pleased to present this proposal for structural engineering services. We have
previously performed a structural review of project plans by Stantec / Sear -Brown for the proposed box
culvert and retaining/wing walls for the above mentioned project. As a part of our previous review, we
outlined items that were noncompliant with the most recent AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design
Specifications, Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) Bridge Rating Manual, and the Latimer
County Urban Area Street Standards (LCUASS). We also made further redlines and comments to
ensure adequate structural design for the proposed cast -in -place box culvert, wing walls, and retaining
walls.
It is our understanding that new design drawings are to be drafted to reflect these changes. We propose
to provide the following:
• New construction drawings and details in the same general format as the current sheets 705
through 710, and selected details on sheets 711 and 712. Other sheets are to be drafted by a
civil engineer.
• Bridge design calculations for the cast -in -place flared end box culvert and retaining/wing walls.
• Coordination meetings with City Engineering.
• Coordination with Lonco for an independent bridge rating at 75% design.
• Three sets of construction drawings stamped and signed by a licensed engineer.
It is our understanding that the clearance height will remain at 9'-0" despite the fact that the LCUASS
requires a 10'-0" minimum clearance height. We also understand that the City will review shop drawings
for the precast section of the box culvert. The City will coordinate a separate contract with Lonco for the
structure rating.
We propose to provide these services for a lump sum fee of $10,000. CTLIThompson will make
appropriate effort to complete the work described within a reasonable period. We anticipate completing
the task within 3-4 weeks from your notice to proceed. Our Mr. Wayne Thompson will be the Project
Manager and your key contact. Thank you for your consideration. We look forward to the opportunity to
work with you on this project. When you are ready for us to begin work or if you have any questions,
please contact the undersigned.
Respectfully Submitted,
CTL I THOMPSON, INC.
