Louisa,
Can you save this in CityDocs under:
Aspen Enterprises – PFA Cleaning Services – Correspondence
I don’t know where else to file it except near the Aspen contract for PFA Cleaning. I just want to make sure we
have some record on file to show I told PFA this.
Thanks,
Ed

Gary & Jim,
Attached is the green cleaning solution made by Diversey and sold through Northern Colorado Paper (Greg Tews
218-3764) that Joan Barrie has the City’s janitorial contractors using, to “green up” that contract. If PFA uses this
chemical or something similar for your cleaning contract with Aspen Enterprises for the PFA Admin and Training
Center sites (plus any other cleaning the firefighters do at the stations) then according to Joan you should be in
good shape as far as having chemicals that do the job, are cost effective; and are green, sustainable, and safe to
use.
There may be other products that meet this: Green Seal- or EcoLogo-certified cleaning products
Maybe Jim is already buying something that meets this criteria and PFA has this covered. This is just in case you
don’t; and need to know something that’ll work, and where to get it.
Let me know if any questions.
Gary, Joan says she knows Aspen and that they are a good capable cleaning outfit.
Thanks,
Ed

Ed,
The products that we use are Alpha-hp Multi Surface Cleaner and Stride - neutral cleaner by Diversey. They are
green and easy to use and the Accelerated Hydrogen Peroxide in the Alpha-hp is safe on all surfaces and is a
disinfectant. Greg Tews 218-3764 from Northern Colorado Paper can help them with these and other green
products. He is a great guy and has the knowledge of what we use. The bottles have a dilution system on them
so they can’t measure wrong.
Thanks,
joan

Jim & Joan,
I need your help on this one.
PFA wants to renew their contract for cleaning with Aspen Enterprises. Aspen is only supplying the labor, while
PFA supplies the cleaning chemicals. In an effort to “green up” our custodial contracts, didn’t you guys require the
vendor (is it Porter, Varsity, or both?) to do this:
Require vendors to use only Green Seal- or EcoLogo-certified cleaning products.
If Yes; is there a list of cleaning products that PFA should be using, and a place where we can get them?
That way PFA can start supplying cleaning chemicals to Aspen that work, are cost-effective, and aren’t harmful to
the environment or the people who use them.
If you can help direct PFA as to what to buy and where to get it, that would be great and help them become more
sustainable, like you guys have done.
Can you please advise?
Thanks,
Ed
