Proposal No. FC-11-0171
At your request, CTLIThompson, Inc. is pleased to provide this fee estimate for Construction
Observation and Materials Testing services forthe Waters Way Park project located in FortCollins,
Colorado. We reviewed the plans you provided and the Geotechnical Investigation prepared by
CTL Thompson, Inc., project no. FC04803-125, dated February 19, 2009 in preparation of our
proposal.
We anticipate that the city will use our estimate for the basis of establishing a budget for the project
and to issue a purchase order for our services. Our estimated scope of services and associated
fees were prepared according to the terms and conditions of our professional services agreement
with the City of Fort Collins and are presented below.

Drilled Caisson Observation: Full-time drilled caisson observations will be required for the shelter,
pump station, bridge abutment, and restroom structures. We will observe the depth drilled, bedrock
penetration, and reinforcing steel placement in the piers. Our observations will include one concrete
test per day - additional concrete tests for the caissons will be charged at the rates listed in the
Concrete Testing section. We estimate a total of 6 full -day site visits will be necessary for this
project.
Engineering Technician 6 days x 8 hrs/day x $57/hr $2,736.00
Subtotal: $2,736.00
Concrete Testing: Concrete testing will be required for the bridge abutments, seat walls, ramps,
flatwork, sidewalk, grade beams, and floor slabs. We estimate 25 concrete tests consisting of 4
cylinders each will be necessary.
Concrete Cylinders 25 tests x $166/test $4,150.00
Subtotal: $4,150.00
Masonry Special Inspection: Masonry inspection and sampling will be necessary for the restroom
and pump station walls. The specifications call for each type of masonry unit to be tested for
compressive strength and absorption. This requirement can be waived if the architect/EOR feels
the submittals and certifications provided by the supplier are sufficient. The specifications also call
for one set of mortar cubes to be made each day that mortar is placed and one set of grout cores to
be made each day that the contractor is grouting. We estimate a total of 12 site visits will be
necessary to observe masonry construction and reinforcement, so a total of 12 sets of mortar cubes
and grout cores would also be necessary.
