Box 580 Fort Collins, Colorado 80522-0580 Attention: Mr. Matt Day Subject: Fee Estimate for Construction Observation and Materials Testing Services Waters Way Park Fort Collins, Colorado Proposal No. FC-11-0171 At your request, CTLIThompson, Inc. is pleased to provide this fee estimate for Construction Observation and Materials Testing services forthe Waters Way Park project located in FortCollins, Colorado. We reviewed the plans you provided and the Geotechnical Investigation prepared by CTL Thompson, Inc., project no. FC04803-125, dated February 19, 2009 in preparation of our proposal. We anticipate that the city will use our estimate for the basis of establishing a budget for the project and to issue a purchase order for our services. Our estimated scope of services and associated fees were prepared according to the terms and conditions of our professional services agreement with the City of Fort Collins and are presented below. Earthwork: Compaction testing will be required for overlot grading, utility trench backfill, wall backfill, grade beam backfill, flatwork subgrade, sidewalk subgrade, slab subgrade, and seat wall footing subgrade. We estimate a total of 50 site visits will be necessary for this project. We will observe the depth drilled, bedrock penetration, and reinforcing steel placement in the piers. Our observations will include one concrete test per day - additional concrete tests for the caissons will be charged at the rates listed in the Concrete Testing section. We estimate a total of 6 full -day site visits will be necessary for this project. Engineering Technician 6 days x 8 hrs/day x $57/hr $2,736.00 Subtotal: $2,736.00 Concrete Testing: Concrete testing will be required for the bridge abutments, seat walls, ramps, flatwork, sidewalk, grade beams, and floor slabs. We estimate 25 concrete tests consisting of 4 cylinders each will be necessary. Concrete Cylinders 25 tests x $166/test $4,150.00 Subtotal: $4,150.00 Masonry Special Inspection: Masonry inspection and sampling will be necessary for the restroom and pump station walls. The specifications call for each type of masonry unit to be tested for compressive strength and absorption. This requirement can be waived if the architect/EOR feels the submittals and certifications provided by the supplier are sufficient. The specifications also call for one set of mortar cubes to be made each day that mortar is placed and one set of grout cores to be made each day that the contractor is grouting. We estimate a total of 12 site visits will be necessary to observe masonry construction and reinforcement, so a total of 12 sets of mortar cubes and grout cores would also be necessary. It should be emphasized that this estimate is based upon assumptions of actual quantities and contractor's schedule. The fee will be charged only for the actual hours and unit rates presented for tests and observations requested by the owner, contractor or subcontractors who schedule the services.
