Alterations: o Add cost for Sewing Patches (i.e., emblems) onto Uniforms. 2. Examples are Re -sewing seams, hems, very small tears and snags, and replacing buttons. Large tears and other major damage that greatly affect the appearance of the damaged item should not be repaired. Per policy, the employee is to notify their supervisor or shift commander and if necessary, a uniform requisition will be submitted to replace the item. Uniforms, upon initial issue for fit, may be altered by specified cleaners or tailors at the City's expense. All other alterations will require supervisor approval in advance. One item not mentioned in the above policy language is the sewing of patches to uniforms. Police Services will pay for patches to be sewn on to uniforms. Alterations FCPS will not pay for: • Installation of zippers, • Additional button holes, • Additional belt loops. The Police General Directives state, personnel who are authorized to receive a clothing allowance are permitted to have items of personal clothing worn on duty laundered at the City's expense. The City will pay for repair of duty -related damage to personal clothing when verified by a supervisor, and the damage is not caused by negligence. • The City will not pay for alterations of personal clothing. Not addressed in the General Directives is the laundering of denim/jeans. Per the Patrol Captain, no denim/jeans will be laundered at the City's expense.
