City of Fort Collins Art in Public Places Program
The Downtown Development Authority (DDA), in cooperation with the City of Fort Collins Art in Public Places Program, is
requesting designs for artwork to be incorporated into upcoming Downtown Alley Enhancement Projects.
PROJECT
The Downtown Development Authority is embarking on an alleyway enhancement program to create vibrant and engaging
pedestrian linkages in downtown Fort Collins. The DDA seeks drawings by local youth to be a part of the alley enhancements. This
is the second open competition to select drawings for this project. The DDA requests black & white line drawings, either
representational or abstract concepts, demonstrating one of the following themes: 1) Sustainability in Fort Collins, 2) Fort
Collins History, or 3) Music/Art/or Cool Patterns. The selected designs will be sandblasted into granite pavers and placed in
downtown alleyways. The artwork will be a signature piece in Fort Collins and be highly visible to the public.
TIME LINE
Submission Deadline: Must be received by 5 p.m. on February 16, 2010
Finalists Chosen: February, 2010
Installation dates and locations: To be determined.
ELIGIBILITY
Artwork will be accepted from residents and/or schools within the City of Fort Collins city limits Entries will be reviewed in
three age categories; 3-8, 9-12, and 13-18. Each artist may submit only one drawing.
BUDGET
Artists whose designs have been selected by the committee will be awarded $50. Up to 28 designs will be selected.
SELECTION PROCESS
The Selection Committee may consist of members of the DDA Board and staff, Design Consultants for the Alley Improvement
Project, APP Board members and a City Purchasing Department representative. The Committee will review submissions and either
recommend finalists or make a final recommendation. The Committee's recommendations and/or choices are in its sole discretion
and the Committee reserves the right to reject any or all entries at any time in the review and selection process.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Suitability of the design to the mission of this project, including form, content, scale and clarity. Please see our website,
www.fcgov.com/artspubhC for judging results. Selected artists will be notified.

2. Design: One black & white THICK, BOLD, CLEAR line drawing completed on the attached form. (Use a marker)

All proposals submitted must meet all applicable City codes and Charter requirements. The City of Fort Collins reserves the right
